Did the Sisters of Mercy appear on the UK Show The Tube 85?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Thanks for the info. My memory tells me it was filmed from the mixing desk, but I have not seen this for some ten years or so. You cannot always trust your mind.....
Is my memory serving me right about the songs?
i've seen only fragment from falaa, no this corrosion.
So, there are two MTV-instores videos?
There is one, maybe the one you mentioned from Phoenix 14-4-91. The interview with Andrew is 14 minutes long. He is wearing a white t-shirt with something about Bush on it. But in this tape there are no liveclips.
Could it be this one you mentioned? Or are there more?...

The other MTV Studio Tape is from Chicago 12-7-91. A long interview (20-30 minutes) from after the show and he is talking about a lot of things, about the tour with Public Enemy etc, about the "old Sisters", that Gary Marx was leaving cause he wanted to spend more time with his girlfriend, Craig was leaving the band every week and that he was not comfortable with Waynes lyrics, also here he hints that Patricia did not play on Floodland. And a whole lot more...
Following songs were filmed live: Intro/First And Last And Always/This Corrosion/Something Fast (After Something Fast he talk a lot beginning with "thank you Chicago!")

To both of the above videos Andrew does some introductions to MTV and their 10-anniversary. In the latter he also removes his shades a couple of times (pulling them down to his nose and looking in the camera)

The 14.4.91 interview is just Tony & Tim. I've never heard of those 2 Andrew interviews.

yeah, i think so, iirc there was a logo of mtv upper right corner. i like this one, 'couse they said, on big chillout with beers in their hands, something like "oh, now we'll be going to europe tomorrow, to play in many strange countries, start from poland for example"
there was a video shared few years ago by someone, bad-bad quality, with three different us mtv shows with the sisters and this one was among the others. now i'm far away from my sisters stuff, so i just stitch pieces from my full of holes memory ;D

Don't know if I've ever seen the whole thing, but I do remember the shirt: Bush/Noriega

Ok, sounds cool. I am not sure that the two I was writing about has ever been shown, maybe parts of it, the live songs I don´t think ever has been shown.
Those videos are from the MTV vaults and has not any logos on, these are full length and the camera is filming Andrew all the time even during breaks where they are supposed to show videos, all mistakes, re-takes and they are getting Andrew to do some MTV commercials and he is doing a lot of different takes. I think the whole runs for about an hour.

Yes, this must be the t-shirt he is wearing in the first of the two interviews I mentioned. This interview is 14 minutes in total on the unedited mastertape.

Yes, I've got an audio of it recorded off the TV.
It'd be nice to actually see it though, as well as those 2 Andrew interviews, assuming they exist.

If someone is having anything really, really interesting a deal can be made. The one I am looking for more than anything is a video from Gothenburg, Mudd Club 16th may 1985.
Or anything else, not only rare, but also unique.

Regarding a video from Gothenburg, heard rumors about rumors about it's existence. But, no-one of the swedish long-time collectors I've been in contact with over the years has actually seen some footage from the show. So I actually doubt it's existence but I'd like to be proven wrong.
...I’ve never had the desire to make a record unless I have something to say...

I am pretty sure it exist. Or at least, did exist...... I was at that concert with a friend of mine who knew a guy called Hans Haraldsson, who was 36 years old at that time. Hans is the founder of Ginza Musik in Sweden, a large music store. Hans had a copy of it but was unwilling to make copies (maybe due to a promise to the band?), my friend offered him 10000 kronor (about 1000 euro) but he turned the offer down.
If the video still exist is not sure, Hans is now 61 years old and it may very have gone lost.

That is story I know at least.

Here's the 19.4.91 MTV interview with Tony & Tim with the live clip of FALAA. (Audio only, unfortunately, but if nobody has the video it'll have to do...).
I also included Andreas on CINX Detroit 13.7.91 as it was next to it on the tape.

Back in the day, my mate told me he saw the sisters on the tube, (no time to cry video), and after that, like me, he couldn't listen to anything else.

Perhaps this answers your question?

this video shared few years ago was in avi format, called like "sisters - interviews" around 12 minutes long in 10mb, and there was one interview with Andy beside some red bricks wall outside, with Tony and Tim after Phoenix gig and another one with Andy from 120 minutes on some stairs in the studio. all from usa mtv i think.
it's killing me that i left all my sisters stuff so far away, but i made two copies of my fabolous "television thing" dvd trilogy to ribbons 69 and Christian so they should have it somewhere

There seems to be a lot of interviews from this period. Maybe not only from this period? Would be nice to make a list of all videos known and try to dig out som really really rare ones. Also from 1991 there exist live videos that I have never ever seen on a lisy anywhere, (Stockholm, Annexet May 1991) so there is gotta be a lot of nice stuff out there.

I have a friend who actually saw this video a few years ago, I also talked with the owner on the phone. He would'nt trade/sell it for anything in the world due to promises (to the band!? Don't remember).
