Motorama - Joy Division's the most obvious influence but this Russian band have a lot of new wave sounds. All their music is free at their website too - http://wearemotorama.com. I came across them with the song, Horses from last.fm - here's the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BY8HkOpGMHg

It's been a strange kinda weekend...loads of 70's played over the past three days...but this one stood out and is deserving of a second listening...

On lousy laptop speakers. And you know what? It's still like a religious experience. This album cover is at least as good as the one with the banana.

A totally mind blowing matrixed recording of The Cure Reflections show from London last year.

Just about to embark on the Faith set..

Cool! There's a copy on it's way over here, so one of these days I get to hear you scream again. Been way too long ;D

Yeah, they really make an effort to keep the mystery alive...

It's Grimes and the album is called Halfaxa, I think

Thanks, Radiojamaica! Just listening to them. I really have taken quite a few good listening tips from this thread - its father, respectively ;)

The Wreckery were the brainchild of two Melbourne underground art-punkers, guitarist-vocalist Hugo Race and fellow six-stringer Ed Clayton-Jones. Both had returned from overseas stints as ex-members of Nick Cave's early Bad Seeds. Even a cursory look backwards via the cracked kaleidoscope of this double-CD collection shows The Wreckery to be more musical than their idols The Birthday Party while still possessing a similar power and swaggering, if not outright staggering, glory. Dubbing them as Birthday Party clones though would be an error. That influence is there, but so is the shadow of Cleveland's Pere Ubu and the No Wave New Yorkers.

Heino? I've never heard any live recordings of him.

Can't say I'd ever heard anything by them besides 88 Lines. Click the picture for more info--much more info, as well as a perfectly legal download of the album. It's not bad.
