Since there are already early gigs on the wiki with no citation at all I'd have thought appearing on a flyer would be good enough! The early gigs list relies on stuff like this, because Eldo isn't going to let anyone look through his old diaries (if he kept any which he probably didn't anyway!)

In the comments with the pic of the Flyer, Philip Brennan says that he "seems to remember that it was snowing outside". So The Three Johns (he being one of the three !) at least would seem to have played that day. Would that not count as corroboration that the event at least took place ?

I'm no so sure whether I might use those pretty pictures of Zaman Tüneli Fotograflari. And since I'm not on FB ...

If a musician remembers that day, it is good source even if he played for another band

On the 28th March (day before) I saw Classix Nouveaux etc etc at Rock City

I think Dan is probably right on that as the gigography that appeared in UTR 6 presumably had
's input given how active he was in the whole UTR project. It famously said that the list was as accurate as "hazy recollection and half-baked research will allow".

I see, ... and most likely this was the basis for the first gigography in the SistersWiki as well, plus the one on the official site ...
...
beyond that, it's surely no matter whether those so nicely photoshoped flyers in the header of p.10/11 look like heaven or not ...

@ Dan
Yes regarding the March 22nd 81, after Damage Done The Sisters were stars in Leeds
Seriously , they 're lucky to be selected on top 12 !
For the Leeds Uni's Riley Smith Hall in 1981 , i don't have more informations, but this is not impossible, because, even if lot of dates are listed, some gigs are still missing.
I know some unlisted dates, some dates were played, for some other i'm not sure, they could be only anoucements. I need to check that later.
@ Being645
You are speed as starlight to integrate the new material on wikigig ,even if this was late on night i saw you
Are you alone to work on Wiki gigs? Because i will give you lot of work
@ Nikolas Vitus lagartija
Now for the Leeds Fan Club gigs list remains 2 exact places to found for 2 dates .
Thu, 19-Mar-1981 - Brannigans, Leeds
Sun, 22-Mar-1981 - Tiffany's, Merrion Centre, Leeds
Mon, 07-Sep-1981 ??
Fri, 02-Oct-1981 ??
Sun, 13-Dec-1981 - Tiffany's, Merrion Centre, Leeds
Tue, 30-Mar-1982 - Tiffany's, Merrion Centre, Leeds
I could prove the place regarding oct the 2, 1981 (my futur post)Â .
Otherwise just for precision, for march the 30, 1982 , the blue scan on Wiki is a poster (including a poster scan).

I got told by an old friend of Marx / 1st gen roadie that the sisters played only silver machine a few times in a pub in Wakefield before they played live in Leeds - and that these 'gigs' were recorded because Eldritch recorded everything at least until my mate fell out of love with the sisters during the reptile house tour - i've seen his sisters stuff from that time so know he was there

So back to Naked Voices for a minute. Is it likely that the person who put together the Red Rhino "slip" that was allegedly in later distributed copies of DD was thinking of NV when referring to an original version of the Sisters which was a five piece and lasted from Autumn 79 to Easter 80 ?
The NV gig featured on the Expelaires FB page is Dec 79, which is right in the middle of this period. Or was Marx in both bands at this time ? Or had
joined NV some time after the demo was recorded in June 79, making the four piece into a five piece ?

It's Brannigans. Years ago I posted a scan of the poster from the gig, a copy was given to me (although I've seen the original) by a member of the support act, Screaming Abdabs. He told me there were only about 12 people at the gig... and that number included the members of Screaming Abdabs. If someone saved the pic they might post it. I'll post it if and when I find it but it could take some time.
Actually I remember posting it in the image gallery, I can't work out how to search the gallery though.
EDIT: Image gone.
https://www.myheartland.co.uk/gallery/d ... ode=search
He also told me Eldritch played drums on a Screaming Abdabs demo. He said he no longer had a copy and wasn't in contact with the other band members. I think he said one of them had become a bank manager.

The same guy who gave me the Brannigans poster told me he saw the Sisters at Keighley Fun House (which would make it 29.3.82) and he said the Sisters played Silver Machine as an encore, joined by members of the March Violets.

Comparing these two band line-ups clarifies things a bit, not entirely though ...

Just seen the Screaming (not Screamin') Abdabs page on the wiki. It's nothing to do with the Alison Moyet band, another band with the same name.
EDIT: Ah it's linking to wikipedia, thought I was still on sisterswiki.

so about 1 1/2 years later then.

Thanks,
@Being. Sounds like two separate bands then. Given the propensity for bands borrowing members from each other (either temporarily or permanently) on the scene at that time, Mr Marx moonlighting seems the most likely answer to my question. I wonder which of the "Johnny"s was the bass player ?

so is this a F Club gig ? A self-promoted gig ? John Keenan implies that he had stopped using Brannigan's by this stage, and if it didn't have Keenan's legendary promotional skill behind it, the gig's tiny audience becomes more understandable. Second factor in the latter would be the fact that the university wouldn't have returned for the new academic session until the following week.

OK, wrong is wrong. I've taken off the link. The only other Screaming Abdabs to find are some early incarnation of Pink Floyd from the early 60s ...
@Nik V Lagartija
Sounds quite reasonable ... I've noted that questionmark (for the moment) ...

Probably not, but they are being discussed here some thirty plus years after their brief existence which is more than most 'local' bands of that era could say !

Having said that, Dan says in his description for the Gallery that this poster was hand-made by the Abdabs, and they were supporting the Sisters, so this may just have been to drum up support in their neighbourhood in addition to other promotion. Hopefully someone will have a more definitive answer.

Yeah that's it! That saves me having to search for the photocopy and rescan it!
(In the original the various filled-in lines across 'abdabs' had been coloured in with various coloured felt tip pens). It's A3 sized.
The poster was made by the band, that's why their name is bigger. Presumably this was on top of any 'official' promotion, although it sounds like there wasn't any with such a small audience in attendance! I was told they only played a handful of gigs.
I've no idea if it's classed an F-Club gig or not.
paint it black wrote:so about 1 1/2 years later then.
Last time I mentioned it I mistyped the date as 1983 and you said it was a year earlier! (I only just noticed I mistyped it when I found the really old post).

Just to be pedantic:
on the wiki, you wrote:For their cover art, the Naked Voices chose some b/w drawing in style of the famous painting The Scream by Edward Munch
Munch did four versions of The Scream - paintings and pastel drawings. The tape cover looks like a bad b&w photocopy of the pastel version at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Scream ... Pastel.jpg rather than "a 'b/w drawing
in style of... the famous painting The Scream."
