Mobile version or app for Heartland?

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Urgh. I haven't actually got very far, and now I'm back at work I'll have less time to spare.

Arrrrggggghhhhhh! These templates! Tables within tables within tables. It's like it's bloody 2002 all over again!

I'm basically trying to have the templates output sane HTML5 and then I'll worry about the CSS.

I'm not doing this while I should be working, honest :innocent:

*Edit to add: the HTML is a hell of a lot more terse without all the tables, inline styling, etc.

*Edit again:

Code: Select all

if( isset($HTTP_GET_VARS['mark']) || isset($HTTP_POST_VARS['mark']) )
Blimey that takes me back! No $_GET or $_POST?

Yeah, that's about where I got to when I was looking into doing it - then the day job got stupidly busy and started taking up all my time and...

Version 0.1 is up on the site. Still very much a work in progress. HTML there for many (not all) of the templates, but hardly any styling yet.

Edit: On the positive note it seems a lot more readable in terms of font size...

You have to go into your profile and change "Board Style" to "HTML5 Simple (Alpha test)". Not got it doing automagically yet.

(NB you can change it back to your usual theme when you get bored).

I've put some colours on there now, trying to make it look a bit more like the default theme. Now all I need to do is finish off the templates I haven't done yet (particularly the private messaging system)

With the colours it looks almost like normal ... :notworthy: :notworthy: ...

The font makes reading, especially in forum sections, a bit difficult, though - perhaps a sans serif were better here ... :?:

OK that's interesting, I haven't even specified a font in the style declarations; on my PC it has defaulted to a sans-serif font anyway.

Edit: I've made it default to a standard sans-serif font now. More to come...

Not a biggie really. Interestingly, I can only change the colour schemes successfully via the mobile version. The desktop version keeps telling me that my email addy's already in use when I hit the submit button.
Not a showstopper though :)

Using the mobile version as I'm in the pub watching the footy. Main page looks great but when you go to a specific board everything goes miniscule again.
Posting's not so much of a biggie as the size changes again to a readable font.
Not a gripe. Just feedback :)
Cheers.
