wide receiver
I'm sure that, if pressed, there would be a lot of Sisters songs Von would deny all knowledge of.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.
Listened to it this morning, it is definitely singing.
No question!
No question!

i though it sounded like von, and i've listened hard enough & often enough
it's cack, but it's him.
and driver is him too. i'm sure.
that recent gary marx interview he talked about the track "heartland" being his own tune with a few of his words, which von modified... so maybe "driver" is all marx's original words, with von's tune? or smoething?

What’s the difference between a buffalo and a bison?

wide receiver
it's official. it is a very definitely a "real" sisters track.
real in that it was penned and recorded by the man himself, anyway.
not long after they'd got back from the states, circa 84, the band had begun writing material for FALAA.
the story goes that von was really into american football after the trip and he turned up at rehearsal one day with a cassette tape, saying he had this fantastic track he wanted to work on.
it was wide receiver.
sounding like a plodding dirge with a fairground-style guitar line (my description), the only lyric von had come up with at that point was something about a "wide receiever" (american footy reference) and then some dodgy sixth form rhyme about "... deceive her"
groovy
ahhh, dear old von and his "baby pictures", eh?

Sounds like you're quoting something there. What's the source?Quiff Boy wrote: ...the only lyric von had come up with at that point was something about a "wide receiever" (american footy reference) and then some dodgy sixth form rhyme about "... deceive her"...

completely unrelated, but I'm sure 'wide receiver' or 'wide receivers' was a credit at the end of the wake video.

basically, the band's personal security.
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"
