Would you expand on that?
I've not heard that before.

Hi! Angel
it's Friday night so I'm on one of my raves... forgive
Formula Eyes was a track by 70s looney/singer/social worker/songwriter Kevin Coyne. I remember hearing it once, his voice was 'orrible but 'Formula Eyes' stuck in my head, I'm pretty sure it was about a junkie.
Alternatively...
shades are cool, Mr. E sans them isn't
kind regards
Barman Blast

Thanks for the explanation BB
I can see your point. I don't think I'd like to see him without shades now but then .....Oh well, a girl can still dream
Cheers m'dear
PS I have heard of Kevin Coyne but not anything by him. I understand "psychaedelic" is one description...
PPS I'm having a groovy Friday too.

I had a brief conversation with the man once, at a club in Leeds in '90 or so...largely because I was hauling off a drunk acquaintance who was *insisting* on telling him what his lyrics meant, & generally being a pain...he was extremely polite & pleasant, considering.
As far as the height debate goes - he's absolutely tiny! Granted I'm nearly 6' & tend to tower over most people, but I very much doubt he's more than 5' 5".
He wasn't wearing the ubiquitous shades when he wandered over to the pub beer garden in Bristol before the gig, or in Leeds Dark Arches...I imagine he wears them onstage these days so that he CAN wander about unnoticed before the set & not be pestered...

I'm with Emily on this one. Short girls...we rock.
Plus that means most guys will always be taller than us.

Remind me never to stand next to either of you, especially if you're wearing heels!

At 5' 4" I'm a confirmed short-ar*e.
Still, at 31 I doubt I'm going to grow in any direction apart from outwards.
Thank God for "New Rocks"!

Having stood next to him, I'd put him about 5' 8" or 5' 9"

Not entirely convinced about that one, though I did have a look at your photo again and you are kind of hunched over. There is also the hat...
Now, Nod, there's some one I'm probably taller than.
Always used to feel sorry for Nod. The Melody Maker used to rip the p*ss out of him somthing wicked.
Angelchild wrote:
Blimey!!!!!That's far more impressive than me & McCoy!!!!!!!!!
Not really - if you check page one of this thread you'll find it was at the recent Blank Canvas gig in Leeds.
I spent about five minutes talking to him, during which I swiftly realised that despite reading all the interviews and listening to the records over the years he was, and is, of course a total stranger.
He was quite polite all things considered.
Oh, and I was also too much of a pussy to risk upsetting him before he went on stage by asking when the album or DVD was coming out!

I remember The Nod Corner's as well.I would laugh till I cried cos they had all the band off to a t.
Nod isn't that small.Paul was the diminutive one.I used to tower over him.
I still did the last time I saw him
It was just last month at NFD.
I have seen everyone in the past few months, just at a couple of gigs, but no McCoy,he's become a total recluse now and no-one ever sees him.
But it's far more cool to have stood next to Sir Spiggy
You are so lucky to have met him.He still is a big enigma to me as I never have.I would like to, just to say hello, and shake his hand, and that's about all I can contemplate
Yeah I was hunched next to Carl as a) he isn't that tall and b) I had a huge crush on him at the time so it was a good excuse to get in a bit nearer

Tony P's band he has now.I went along as moral support as someone from the olden days.
Apart from ex Neffs I didn't see a soul who was around at the time, any of the other crew who used to see The Neffs.
NFD? The Nefilim around "Zoon" pretty much sums it up.They covered some Neff stuff, but it was as a poke in the eye to Carl rather than as a crowd pleaser.'Fraid there's a lot of bad blood still around down Stevenage way.

He said that he spent the whole of the Reading '91 weekend offstage with the audience, and to combat stage fright he handed out flyers on the door at the NEC 1992 (it was mentioned in UTR).
