It's almost as if someone tapped Von on the shoulder, said "you know the sound's been really poor?" and it was honestly the first he'd ever been aware of it.

Well, the sound was definitely not poor, only the bass was too fat, inescapable fat ... and that's no good.
In the 90s, quite some bands thought they made a great impression this way ... and more often than not it was a sad attempt to physically overwhelm their audiences ... a strategy not exactly becoming The Sisters, imho. They can really do without.
Ha-ha, just listened to the beginning of the recording of Turin in 1985 ... and it also starts with The Doktor bam-tscha, bam-tsch, bam-tscha ... and then the guitars set in tri-li-ri-li,tri-li-ri-li-li and the bass woum, woum-woum woooum ... ... before the vocal set in dark and powerful above all that noise ... ... ok, that's also overwhelming but with inherently a different effect ...
Anyway, here the sound is better (apart from the audience solo vocals) ... hardly anything to see, though

Some write ups in my google alerts this morning (in Italian)
Hey dear Sisters fans, I want to use this moment to introduce myself and share what I’ve found just a few minutes ago on YouTube.
Pascal aka LasyboyLive shared his complete gig film and it’s a pure pleasure watching and listening to this.
I was born in Karlsruhe 50 years ago when my father was stationed at the US air force base in Ramstein.
Nowadays I live in Lower Saxony, Germany and I am a fan of Andrew and Co. since 1984.
Thanks for your time…and now enjoy
