Diana ...

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I knew I'd get you to reply, Mugabe.

I think bastard is far worse than sh*t in the vulgar and offensive category of words, and their meaning.

If I call a man a bastard I think he's far worse than a piece of sh*t.

Calling a man a s**t, however, is a very tame and lame insult in my book. It's little more than a tease at him! But that's just me.

Vulgar and offensive connotations, yes. Not the word itself. Cf. "jew", or "nazi".

Isn't that JOHN LESLIE (the innocent man against whom all charges were dropped at Southwark Crown Court last year) in the swing door behind Diana?

like the man says, because we say so...

and the precise offensiveness of any given word is more down to cultural definitions. what i was getting at was that bastard has a very real meaning beyond its usage as an offensive term. it means illegitimate, born out of wedlock. so there.

:von:

and even MORE importantly, as a legit word with a non-offensive usage, bastard doesnt usually get your site blocked by corporate firewalls. cr*p does. as does sh*t. and most other words i chose to ban.

you're all reading waaaaaay to much into it anyway. the list of banned words was thought up by me, off the top of my head, in a few seconds flat. dont sweat about it ;) ;D

I dont understand why people did'nt give the same respect when Mother Theresa died around the same time, she was one lady I had time for and did a lot more for humanity than Princess Di.

I wouldn't exactly say that I'm with Richey on this one, but I wouldn't have thought that a dogmatic "no birth control" policy is helping, especially in areas of the world with overpopulation problems.

To say nothing of the Catholic Church in general and Mother Theresa in particular supporting leaders of countries with, shall we say, questionable human rights records.

Well, go on then...

Interestingly, just now, trawling through the UTRs I found here:

About Diana:

Believe it or not, when she was alive, even in Portugal we were inundated with <news> (and i use this term in a very general and loose way) about her.

All i could think when she died was that finally i wasn't going to hear from that woman again, that i wouldn't have to see in the news about the new dress she wore at this or that party, right after the news about 300 people killed in a train wreck or just before the news about land mines in Angola.
Alas, i was so wrong.

She, and the whole mass hysteria thing around public figures in the UK is one of the reasons i think brits are hopeless and condemned.

The fing about conspiracy theories (JFK, Moon landing photos etc.) is that not one of them has ever been proved to be true.
It's fun to read about alleged conspiracies and cover-ups, and it's even MORE fun to laugh at conspiracy theory nuts, but they are, sadly, almost certainly bollocks.

Pampered floozy dies in road crash. So what? Impact on day-to-day life equals ****-all-squared, IMHO.

And yes, I'm in a bad mood.
The day of her funeral, me and Mrs markfiend went to the supermarket, thinking "oh, at least it'll be quiet". They only **** shut it "as a mark of respect". WTF?

That day was the most nauseating example of mass hysteria I've ever seen. I remember seeing some dweeb saying that the death of Diana had affected him more than the death of his own mother

What is wrong with some people?
I was rather disturbed at the way British society seemed to shut down on the Sunday she died. My local ice Hockey team, Manchester Storm (don't laugh, but I was briefly into ice hockey!) cancelled a home game that day. What the f**k?
Princess Di meant literally nothing to me; I don't understand how she could mean so much to people who'd never met her.
Maybe she was a nice person, but so are billions of others. You wouldn't cancel a hockey game because Fred Bloggs the kindly lollypopman died, would you? WOULD YOU?

And anyway, I'm sure she wouldn't have wanted the hocky game + suopermarket to shut, annoying the level-headed peeps like me who rightly didn't really care that she'd died.
