17 seconds was my introduction to mr smith and the boys, and i think it is still the best, but obviously i'm biased. hey who isn't.
spent much of spring 82 revising to a tape, when i got the vinyl myself a couple of years later, it seemed more upbeat (hard to believe i know): listening to both, the tape had been running about 10% slow when recording. adds a whole new dimension, and i had to relearn the songs in another key to play along.
i got tickets to see them on the pornography tour at Hamm Odeon (as it was then), and they were s**t live. they rather lost my support until the Orange gig film, so i would start with that. i've only seen it on VCD but it must be available on bootlegs also.

I've always thought though that he did look ALOT brighter during the second set. I personally think he'd recieved some sexual favour or summit from mary............

I'd agree with all of the above, especially the praise for Pornography and Disintegration, but I'd stress again that buying a LIVE album would be a really good move. The Cure have generally been a very professional, able and entertaining live act. Whereas the Sisters have generally only been (very) entertaining.
