I won an item (James Ray cassette) on July 26th and still havn't got it... (The seller let me know he had got my payment.)

You're waaaayyy past the 30 day complaint period. Now if he doesn't send it there's nothing that you can do about it. Sounds like it's time to send the seller an emai.

I've sent him emails. And sometimes he has answered. Not often But meanwhile I had many other things to do (so-called god damn real life).

@ QB: If mischievous, PM me the seller's postal address. Anything which I get while State-side which had a postage paid envelope with it, I can forward with his/her address on it so that he gets loads of junk mail heading his way.

I can not offer any other solutions than what CtrlAltDelete wrote, other than you could try to resell it.

ebay replied and basically told me that whilst it was harsh, i didn't have a leg to stand on as he says he is located in the states & the product was located in the states, regardless of the shipping details staing UK only and having parcel force prices for inland shipping... bastard!

but i've decided to keep it anyway.

even with customs etc its still slightly cheaper than in the shops, and chances are if i'd sent it back i'd only want one again in a few weeks

so i took delivery of it today - got it here in front of me (getting some odd looks of people i work with too ) - and its quite lovely. its got a uk power supply, which could have some bearing on the matter

Wait until he's left you good feedback for your (presumably) pront payment before you leave him a negative one! People have a nasty habit of leaving "retaliatory" feedback...

That's good advice. Although there's a lot of people now paying to have their negative feedback removed (costs $25 though).

this chap seems to be one of those people who will not leave me feedback until i've left him some.

which is sh*t, quite frankly.

i payed him very quickly, emailed him a polite question about using an alternate delivery address (ie: to work, not home) and have sat here patiently while he took his time sending it surface mail from the US.

he should leave me positive feedback regardless of what i leave him.

i hate sellers that say they will leave you positive feedback after you've left them some. thats completely the wrong way round.

Better than sellers who don't leave you any feedback at all, even when you've paid within 5 minutes of the auction ending and left them good feedback.

Yes, it's quite ridiculous. Ebay does it so they can make even more money. Personally, I would rather keep the negative. Besides, it undermines the rating system, so you never really know how many negative feedbacks someone has received.

You might as well cut your losses and leave him positive feedback. At least you have your item and you'll get a positive feedback out of it (even though what he did was sleazy).

As a seller, I generally leave feedback first because my part of the transaction is completed first. I am not a stickler about leaving feedback last as a buyer, but I do appreciate getting some left if I have done the same to them.

Which totally vindicates my stance of only buying from UK sellers. A car and a good UK driving atlas gives the ideal opportunity to engage in an early morning doorstep challenge (baseball bat optional.)

Or mine of not using ebay for anything that would cost me more than about £20. I've bagged a fair set of CDs, DVDs etc that I'm pleased with, and the one occasion I was ripped off it only cost me about a fiver. I've saved more than that overall so although it sucks I can't grumble too much.

You wouldn't catch me bidding on anything big unless it was from a local seller so I can check it out, pay cash in hand and drive it away with me.

Saying that, I did rather surprise a buyer who lived two streets from my office by dropping his CD to his house one lunch time. Given that he was in Basildon it was a minor miracle he didn't demand his postage fee back

Here in Norway if it comes over 20 pounds or so, I have to pay extra. So a very important thing to know about shopping on Ebay, is to email the seller before bidding, and ask if the seller will put "Gift" on the package, then you will not have problems like this.
