They can f*ck off. Nanny statism at its worst. They have the health warnings. We know it's bad for us. What are you supposed to do? Just stay at home and smoke there? I won't stand for smokers being made second-class citizens.

It p!sses me off when you get people -- random strangers -- can feel quite happy about stopping you in the street when you're smoking and start pretending to cough and say "don't you know what you're doing to yourself with that filthy habit?" Well, yeah, and I don't care.

I tell you what, I'm going to start hanging round McDonalds and start haranguing people coming out with the same sort of sh!t. "Ooh you disgusting fat slob! Did you not see Supersize me? God the harm you're doing to yourself with that cr@p!"

When you start to jump before every car, couch or van in London City to tell them to pull over immediately, turn off their engines and buy a bike instead, I WANT PICTURES! ;D ;D :notworthy: :notworthy:

But surely part of the issue is that cigarette smoke is damaging to the health of non-users.

If I eat a burger in front of you, you suffer no ill-effect. I you smoke in front of me, I do suffer. Even if only because my hair and clothes start to smell of your smoke.

Is it any more nannying than making me wear a seat-belt in my car?

nope, and i also think that in thecase of adults, if they are stupid enough not to wear a seatbelt in a car then they deserve all they get.

I'm not so sure :urff: The smell of the grease from McD's is enough to make me retch ;)

Same rules in Sweden since June 1th 2005. I don't mind. I quit smoking 5 1/2 years ago. So now I don't have the smell of smoke in my clothes after a visit to the pub

I've been around smokers a bit too long, methinks.

For the past month or two I can't stop coughing. Not chesty coughs, annoying little coughs which don't make me feel any better, and once started, about six more follow.

As far as I care, cigarettes can stop being made, if they were invented tomorrow there's no way they'd be legal, it's all just a byproduct of capitalism with companies and governments leaning on tobacco industries for money, despite the fact that their blood money comes from the lungs of too many.

And I'm well aware that to the rest of you I don't know what the f**k I'm talking about, but that's not my problem. Deal with it. I have an opinion, even if the Government won't listen to it until I'm 18.

This is of course true.

And it gives the lie to the "war on drugs", which of course should more accurately be called the "war on some drugs". :|

But prohibition doesn't work. The American situation during the alcohol prohibition proved that as much as the current mess.
