i think of the ending paragraph of Under the Gun more like a stream of consciousness type of thing, associative, all cleaned up and poeticized afterwards. But then, i'm probably the only one again.

It`s the ever late eotunun again.. :D

To me the Under The Gun has allways been a sum up of the split in 1986 and a (self glorifying.. :innocent: ) summary to the proceedings around "Gift".
To shoot " out of the sun" is an attack practice known from the early days of air combat, most oftenly used by german pilots. As the sun blinds the attacked one he can`t see the attacker. To allied pilots "The hun in the sun" was proverbial. (Maybe Eldo takes his nick "Von" to identify himself as the hun, seems fitting to me) The "heat seaking" shot "out of the sun" is an attack that can´t fail and comes surprising, like "Gift" was released surprisingly and shot down Waynes attempt to use the name "The Sisters of Mercy". And in this line, Eldo celebrates his victory joyfully..

Waddayathink?

It's certainly a possibility.

You might have thought he'd got over the '86 split by '93 though. Not to suggest he's a vindictive so-and-so who can hold a grudge for years. Of course not. That's just what the pond-life music journalists want you to believe. :innocent:

especially as it was 1985 when they split.

  It was our friend the giant (if I'm not totally off with my translation of eotunun) who put '86 first, not me.

You're sorta overlooking the fact that these lyrics were written by Billie Hughes.

I've already mentioned this elsewhere on Heartland, but I recently purchased the Bille Hughes album which contains 'Two Worlds apart' (after years of fruitlessly trying to find the track online...) if anyone wants a copy, let me know.
Would you happen to have the original lyrics to the Billie Hughes recording "Two Worlds Apart"? If you, or someone who reads this, could post the lyrics that would be greatly appreciated.

From the bit of "Two Worlds Apart" I was able to listen to on a Billie Hughes website, it seems clear that, in addition to adding the stream-of-consciousness "rap" at the end, Eldritch, ever the poet and scholar, has edited the first stanzas of the lyrics to give the song more resonance.

Thanks

The original lyrics:

Two worlds apart Two together
Strange how they work that way
One takes the heart, one the other
You’ve got to play to stay

Are you living for love
Are you living for love
I’ve lost and I’ve won
But I lived it for love

Circumstance and situations
Speak for the two of us
Making real and right relations
What’s turned to two is us

Are you living for love
Are you living for love
I’ve been under the gun
I’ve lost and I’ve won

Everybody lives for love
Everybody works for love
Everybody gives for love
Everybody learns together

I feel my head is full of thunder
The questions never end
Empty nights alone, no wonder
It all comes back again

Are you living for love
Are you living for love
When the road gets too tough
Is your love strong enough

Are you living for love
Are you living for love

Everybody lives for love
Everybody works for love
Everybody gives for love
Everybody learns together

And, you lucky people, it just so happens I have a copy (albeit a low-bitrate one).

Clicky. ;)

But still, easier said than done isn't it. The "speak it with a snarl" part in particular.
Now, I know it's only rock'n'roll... but I like it.
