I think for me a no-emoticon-week wouldn't be too good. Don't know how my talking (typing) in English sounds, but in Dutch I always type with lots of irony and way too serious expressions. Some people even got mad with me because they thought I was genuinly serious (hence my overuse of ' ' and ' ' )
Bouccida is very right, with the 93% and stuff...
Didn't von once say he rather conversates through raising an eyebrow instead of using words (IIRC it had to do something with America)
