The amusing thing is, Christophe and Obviousman were about 10ft away from us (Christophe laterally, Zeno vertically) - though we didn't know it at the time. Not to be repeated in February, one would hope

My navigational (and indeed, reading) skills have improved somewhat since then ;)

Yeah, I had been sitting outside the cafe on the other side of the street, err, observing for a while before I first met everyone... Funny, everyone walking in the wrong direction

My recognisational (I'm making this word up, but you get it) skills however still are worth s**t

EDIT: That's me to Overbomber :von:

Time to come over here then. And bring Barry along. And Paddy. And the rest.

Two pairs of black suede brothel creepers on the same continent/dance floor, at the same time? :von:

I'll throw this one back to Barry. Sorry ... Jo.  (One each)

Just heard there were small riots in Bremen en Berlin too: Germans, true? Or nothing to worry about?

In there seems to be graffiti saying 'Paris'...
Nothing to worry about, I think

This morning I saw a burned out car in the street where I work. But I think/hope, that was about it. :?

Apparently someone stole a pint of milk of someones doorstep in the street were I live this morning. This is the first crime reported in my street in the four years that I've lived here. Now I now things are getting worse and world order is crumbling. Where will it end?

Lets hope it will be

You know, on the news they showed the major of Lille:
I saw some cars with licence plates from other districts, it's clear there's youngsters coming from elsewhere to stir it up here
Seems like quite populist and drawing conclusions a bit too quick to me :urff:

Just read prefects are able to impose curfew from tonight on but they're keeping the army out of it for now

@Johnny: It'll end in Bird Flu

Har Har.
There you see, Johnny. Nothing has ever happened at Peterborough and nothing of importance will ever happen at Peterborough.*

I thought that but changed my post at the last moment. Must be the Antwerp thang. So that's Belgians (Izzy), Germans and the Dutch. Oooh, it just gets better. 8)

@vicus: So that's not so terribly bad, but actually not normal either, isn't it...

I heard the same about Brussels. True?

In happier news the burned out car at the corner of my road has been taken away somewhere. Possibly Paris, Bremen or Berlin for all I know.

It would appear Essex is going to be the future after all. That may not be the happier news we've been waiting for.

So Berlin has until Friday to perfect this riot lark before I arrive. I await a nervous phone call from my mother.

I think a couple of cars burned out in Brussels, Pat

(Yep: Flemish clicky)

Erm... they also burned one at Sint-Niklaas, which is Flanders Fields.

I'm getting just slightly worried.

I don't care if these are singular events, but one car is enough. Mine, for example.

First one I merely spot looking at it, blammo!

Check your car insurance. From what I remember of the small print, you may not be covered in case of "civil unrest".

Find a lock-up garage. ;)

Garages were the first things the French set fire to...

Apparently they even check with the owners if the car is properly insured, so the cost is not theirs but the insurance's
