Dan wrote:Once my Dad said one of the songs I was listening to sounded like the words were "I am a giraffe, I am a giraffe". To this day I've never been able to work out which song he heard. (It was pre-This Corrosion, so that narrows it down a bit).
Bugger. And I thought I was so clever hypothesizing that "I'm a Giraffe" sounds least dissimilar to "Give me the ring"

nick the stripper wrote:I use to think the line I don’t see much evidence in the song Lucretia was I don’t see much innocence.

I still prefer it to the correct lyrics.
this is news to me. I thought it was: I don't see much (of) anything" :innocent: Thanks for clearing that up, Stripper.

*goes of to memorise the lyrics on Hall's site.* :notworthy:

I remembered another one..
can you imagine someone understands
"I`m a naked ape"
instead of
"I´m a naked flame"?
Well, I did.

If it had been Floorshow era, then I'm sure he would have been a naked ape instead. Damn Americanised Sisters ;)

Mistakes I've made...

This Corrosion - "Kiss my shoulder..."

Lucretia - "Long train held up my vision thing"... dunno how I got that.

Vision Thing - "Another black whore and the killing's on."

Vision Thing - "Two thousand Hamburg tour."

The perils of not buying the official product and sitting there with the lyric sheet at first listen.

The perils of "stealing" from the web (and friends, whatever) and being Johnny/Jessie Foreigner. :innocent:

Or just being foreign?

In This Corrosion I used to hear:

...highered hand on heart
And I've got
Floodland, and dreaming of heart

First time round it was "dreaming of harbour". Obviously I'd been listening to All About Eve that day.

Rather disturbingly, since I read de Sade, I hear in a sea of feces instead of faces, though I know it's not

Sorry for this :urff:

Good that you submitted already before I had to point out that there wasnt even an internet existing where one could check up the lyrics. :|

Fortunately Bowie wasnt that "shy", but that didnt help me either. I went to my english teacher with the lyrics of "Cygnet Committee" and he had absolutely no clue what Bowie was on about. Did anybody ever find out?

Not strictly a Sisters lyric, I know (and another misheard lyric that possibly works as well as the original) but up until fairly recently I thought the line in Teachers was:

Some girls wander by mistake
Into the mess that scoundrels make...

There was a rather splendid twisted lyric thread on another forum I use,sadly all now deleted during a Stalinist purge.Sisters of mercy highlights included;
Dominion;"some day,some day,Chlamydia"
This Corrosion;"Give me you're ring and kiss my tool"
Temple of love;"With a triple R bra" or most surreal of all "In the temple aardvark" :?:

I used to think "Vision Thing" had the lyrics:

"Another black hole in the killing zone
A little old man in the methedrome"

Just a moment ago, in some live version of Nine While Nine: 'Do you remember a time when Asians'

Actually, just had a second listen, and it really comes very close to Asians. I don't know which of the two performances it's from though...

Hm, on a second thought:
"You could say "You and me together!"
You didn`t say allways wrong(?) (You give me the same all night long(?)Is wrong(?))
If I gave you ?
but what might be if you`re gone?

Still, if it makes you happy
Still, you can be too glad
Still, if it makes you happy
This wouldn`t be too bad

You don`t have to be
what you don`t want to see(you see?(?))
it can allways be(go?) wrong
one day you can be, you could be gone
And I still can`t hide the(this?) sorrow

Still, it could make us two(too?) happy
Still, it could be too great
Still, it could be too wrong
It could be so bad(?)That it makes you mad(?)
 "
It really belongs here.

Still can't stop singing "Burning... like cats in heat" for "Burning... like catherine wheels" -Amphetamine Logic. All these years, now, sheesh.

Although I made this one up knowing the real lyrics, I still like to sing "I got something weird in my enchilada..." - Detonation Blvd.
