Just a quick question for you all that's sprung to mind and isn't worth a thread on it's own..
If some time over the next few weeks,Eldritch announced he was reviving the original plan for three independently released singles, and an album on Merciful Release, how would you feel if it was studio versions of Summer,Suzanne,Romeo Down,War on Drugs, etc, etc?Stuff you've heard before many times, and is by no means "new"?
Would that be enough for you to go out and buy it,or would this new album have to be material you hadn't heard before?

not having heard good clean studio versions of em, i should think most people on Heartland would be hanging around outside the local record shop before it opens, banging on the doors, breaking out into a sweat and generally salivating like a rabid dog, so YES! definitely.

Well... i would anyway

Well I would probably feel more or less the same as I felt when I was 12 and my dear Kitka was away for two weeks, and then one day he suddenly appeared at the door, ditry and hungry but alive and healthy, after I'd searched through all the staircases and cellars and almost given up the hope that I'd ever see him again.
And besides, I'm sure studio versions of these songs definitely would sound very new.
Would that be enough for you to go out and buy it
Yes, it would be enough for me.

I think most of us would fit in the "buy first, ask questions later" catagory should there ever be new Sisters product.

i don't expect anything else...and for one would love a shiny polished studio version of all the new songs. as for whether that would be enough incentive to us all to buy it -tha's a joke question right?

Well,I kind of expected the response I got,but no,not really a joke..
I just don't think the quality of "War on Drugs","Romeo Down" etc,is up to standard, especially for an album that's been supposedly thirteen years or so in the making.I hold the hope that if he truly is working on a new album, rather than just saying so,he's kept the big guns on it to himself,as none of his "new" stuff that I've heard is that inspiring.:|

You could look at it like this.

Under The Gun was the finest Sisters song recorded in terms of production. There are so many layers of sound on it.

Compare that to the live version. There is no comparison.

If recorded versions of the "new" songs have similar production then I can see them being excellent pieces of work and the live versions won't hold a candle to them.

i agree with C3; and the reason i said that must be a joke question is because 99% of the people on this forum are sisters fans  -and we would buy a used bog-roll if it was official product...not because we're stupid (though i'm not saying some of us aren't :innocent: ) but because we trust von to deliver the goods, when there are finally some goods to deliver. he has never let us down before -at least he's certainly never let me down. :von:

I actually hope the old new songs will be out as studio-versions on the album, or at least along with it as EPs or whatsoever..
Unlike some (or most) of you I am no friend of bootlegs. They have to be bought, too. But none of the money arrives where the music was made. Weeding is one thing -Theft is something different.
By now I only have MP3s of Suzanne/War On Drugs etc. and I am looking forward to hear them in decent quality.
P.S.: My birthday is in june, umm, is it possible that you..? ;D

Well,I'm a Sisters fan too,but it's a bit of an "Emperor's New Clothes" situation with the band in my eyes, generally. The new material doesn't compare well with the old,the generic guitar work paticularly.None of it seems that original either, just "Sisters-by-numbers".Hence me hoping he's kept some stuff to himself for inclusion in any new album. An album of songs by him and a list of uninspired journeymen session players wouldn't have me racing for the local HMV,official TSOM stuff or otherwise.. :|

First of all, I think most people here would rush into any shop with any new Sisters material and buy it wihout consideration - well so would I at least.

I see this more positive; I like the songs Adam has co-written very much, but I am not the least afraid to hear music by Eldritch only. When I ask my (sisters-uninterested) friends which album they like the most after listening to them, all of them say Floodland. Maybe the one with most "uninspired journeymen" of them all.

I think there is at least room for some optimism on this new tour: There might be "old" material by Eldritch played that Adam didn't like, there might even be some song(s) co-written with the new boys. In any case, Eldritch can no longer argue that Adam is blocking releases. Reading the BBC interview again, I see more room for clips a la "We are the same susanne" on the home page.

I'm a sisters fan too, but I must say I totally agree with DeWinter. I would like to go even further. In my humble opinion 8) hasn't written a decent track since FALAA. The old work had many layers, many melodies. The unreleased "new" songs are a complete joke. To me they sound not even half finished, I'm sure nobody notices this when they are being played VERY LOUD. Which is a shame really, and a surpising, given the fact that the man had 16 years time of giving them a proper beginning and end.. and what about something in the middle?

I'm sure you don't agree, but please don't kill me :D :D
