i stayed in bed until about an hour an ago. a part of me seemed to think that the longer i put off learning the result the more chance we had of it going our way. wrong, of course. :|

One of the Fledglings from 2 years ago or last Summer has returned to the Park. As he's such an Enigma that I can't work out who he is, i've named him 'Iggy'

Awwwww, that's lovely! :D I remember watching your other videos a while back, good to see a return.
And clearly all mealworms are not the same, or one of them is just a fussy eater!

Auld Hansel and Gretel are now on their 3rd Season of my helping them to Feed their Chicks, so there'll be a new Pootle next Month  There'a also Tetchy (Female) who with her Partner Squawky (RIP August 2019) were H&G's biggest Rivals in the Park from Autumn 2018 until last Summer. Tetchy then took up with Ruffles, but i've not seen him in over a week so i'm beginning to fear the worst :( Last August Chalky joined H&G as a "3rd Wheel" yet Hansel has been chasing him off the last 2 Months since Breeding Season started, but he turned up with his Wife today and was Feeding her the Mealworms that he was collecting from me. And that leaves Loki and his Partner who's the Doppleganger of Tetchy. They both arrived over the Winter. Add to that Mr and Mrs Blue Tit and that makes 6 Breeding Pairs of Birds, plus their offspring, that I look forward to feeding each day.

Aye, you will have counted 5 not 6, because the 6th Pair is Iggy and his Wife, Mrs Iggy. He invited me to meet her at their Summer Residence at 7pm this Evening (but she was not amused  )

Today I'm mostly reminiscing about watching Team GB pull off an unexpected great escape at the ice hockey World Championship this time last year. And mourning the fact that I'm not in Switzerland doing it all over again.

Gardening for a friend who's in the UK.
She rents her house out over the summer & I manage it for her.
Mowed her enormous lawn & re-planted a rockery today in 30°c heat.
Now losing goth points for the tan I have acquired today

Gotta admit I think I'd prefer that to poking at a laptop in our cold dining room for 7 and a half hours a day.

It's got quieter in the Park these last 2 weeks :?

After Ruffles' long absence, i've not seen Hansel in 3 weeks and Gretel in 2. I think they've both passed away.... I was expecting it this year as Wild Birds are very lucky to live more than 2 years, and they were both at least 3, possibly even older but I had hoped they'd make it to the Autumn. As for the other birds, I'd not seen Mrs Blue Tit for over 2 weeks, just Mr Blue Tit was coming to me to collect Food last week. 2 Weeks ago Tetchy's 2 Chicks Fledged and i've only seen her twice since, but she'll have taken them Foraging for Food all round the Park. Mr and Mrs Iggys Nest appears to have fledged last Thursday, I think they've gone foraging in the opposite direction, probably headed up the River Kelvin. Mr and Mrs Chalkys Nest have just fledged at the Weekend, I could hear their Fledglings calling to them in the thick Foliage at Dinnertime today, when Mr and Mrs Loki turned up at the usual spot to Feed from me. I don't think i'll meet any Fledglings up close this year so i'll just have to hope that the Parent Birds will keep safe and will return later this Month. Usually in August some other Birds start to turn up and by offering Food to them, they may be encouraged to Pair up and stay until Next Spring.

At least I have this very happy Memory from last June.... :)

I've had loads of sparrow fledglings in the garden this week (I hope they eat all the bastard aphids!) but the camera on my raspberry pi camera trap is knackered; I think it must have got some water in it.

I'll get another, the camera for the raspberry pi is only about fifteen quid, and the pi itself is fine. I'll build a better enclosure for it too. (A proper rigid box rather than an empty ice-cream tub )

Edit: £17.09 including shipping. Just ordered it.
