Microsoft [ptooie] has a scheme that allows employees of something called Volume Licensing Software Assurance customers (generally big companies who buy lots of licenses for MS products) to get their paws on MS Office 2007 for $20.
For anyone looking for the suite (and it is stressed that under no circumstances should you be copying the DVD for a friend, loved one, child, student, unemployed person), if you work for a large outfit, this might be useful.
It's true. My dad used to work for the MOD, he got a copy of Office 2007 for a few quid, because it's what he had at work.
Naturally, he didn't notice my installing it on my own laptop.
You need to spend a good 15 minutes actually working out where the f**k they've moved everything about to, but it's pretty good once you get used to it. The equation-builder was a f**king godsend to me for notes in Physics lessons.

The suspect connected to a homcide on a Greyhound bus briefly sits in the driver's seat of the bus while police try to talk to him last night.
Why are you letting him sit
there?!

That part of the story is inaccurate. They apprehended the killer as he was trying to jump out of the window. They did not attempt to interview the guy until late yesterday.

Israel 'proposes West Bank deal'
"OK, guys, here's what we're going to do - we're going to keep all our stuff, even the stuff that's been built illegally. We're also going to take some more of your stuff, but in return for taking more of your stuff we're going to give you less stuff in the middle of bloody nowhere where it hardly ever rains, it's hotter than satan's buttcrack, and where we test our weapons and dump our trash. Any questions?"
Oh, those Israelis do make me laugh

True, but what's funnier is the comment that wasn't included in the news article which came from the local mayor or burgomeister who announced that he would conduct a house-to-house search in order to find out whose dog it was, and expected Bernese citizens to report the person if they knew who it was.
This is Switzerland, after all...
