I don't think I've listened to this in almost 20 years. What a phenomenal band they were. I still kind of feel like music hasn't caught up with them. Can't imagine what it must've been like to see them live.

agreed. such a disappointment for those of us who were into these before the bad seeds came around. i would maybe have had more time for the bad seeds if i'd heard them first.

I like the Bad Seeds plenty, too, though I lose interest in the band around the same time Blixa Bargeld lost interest in the band. I can't even wrap my head around what the Birthday Party must've been like live. I remember the first time I heard them I was just floored.

Junkyard is one of my favourite albums of all-time. Nick is brilliant, but it's Rowland's influence all over that record which takes it up to another level. She's Hit, Dead Joe, Hamlet and the title track are just immense!
I first heard that album when I was 10 or 11 and spent my teenage years trying to replicate RSH's razor-sharp guitar sound from his crying jag. I'd recommend his solo albums and his other projects to anyone who loves that album.

I can never decide if I prefer Junkyard or Prayers on Fire. Junkyard is huge, raw and aggressive, but Prayers On Fire is much more deviant and f**ked up. My favourite song on there is Cry.

This little number is going down quite well tonight. I'd recommend checking it out if you haven't heard it before.

Also been enjoying the latest repress of this one. I'd almost forgotten how good they were. Flour power forever.
