Yep, it doesn't sound like the sort of thing that would be officially sanctioned at a Cure gig.Badlander wrote:It doesn't sound like them at all.eotunun wrote: By the way, can any body remember how the S/M-crap got entangled with the gothic scene? I remember a report from a Cure concert in the late 80ies/early 90ies, when a lot of the audiences got rather upset with a domina show delivered in front of the stage, but sooner or later they seem to have bought the crap.. !
I'd say Rozz Williams and Gitane Demone are more than a little responsible for that sad evolution.
I was a Ginger Goth, no piccies you'll be glad to hear.robertzombie wrote:here's a picture of meGimme_The_Ring wrote:I'm not goth as I've got ginger hair. Can you imagine a ginger goth?!

Oooh, don't know about that, Mr. Ray...JAMES RAY wrote:there again i don't look like a psycho mad-f**ker from hell.
Now Claire, your perception, having read a few of your posts, of what and what is, draws me to believe your vision of things may not be as others see. So as much as I know what I look look like, I would rather you kept your view to yourself otherwise you may find your love for me contested by many others, as we know how much a good woman needs a bad man.boudicca wrote:Oooh, don't know about that, Mr. Ray...JAMES RAY wrote:there again i don't look like a psycho mad-f**ker from hell.
Therefore proving wrong anyone who denies that goths make the best music.JAMES RAY wrote:I am definately a goth.
Your powers of deduction are impressive. My vision of things comes slamming through.JAMES RAY wrote:Now Claire, your perception, having read a few of your posts, of what and what is, draws me to believe your vision of things may not be as others see.
I'd let her know she had an admirer, James, but I'm afraid she doesn't know who you are. I don't know, maybe she'd recognise the bleepy bit at the beginning of Giving Ground but apart from that...JAMES RAY wrote:p.s. love the snap of your mam.
Dare I ask...?JAMES RAY wrote:Manfred being my nick name at school
That's a very good question. I don't believe the combined forces of HL's own lyrics forum and this website have ever managed to come up with the answer.JAMES RAY wrote:Slamming through what?

Then you under the current labelling legislation are "a retro punk/goth",which is good but finding Psychobillies to join you in ritual dancefloor dandygoth beatings could be a tad tricky.Where have all the psychobillies gone?SINsister wrote:Bring *back*? Oh yeah,I forgot how Adam invented goth with his seminal nihilistic anthem;"Puss in boots"SINsister wrote:wild bill buttock wrote:But also WTF is all this pirate/military s**t...
Erm...have you forgotten Adam Ant?

Well said.Badlander wrote:Well first, cyberpunk has never been and hopefully never will be a "scene", so you can't compare it to goth, for instance. What's more, the term was invented by science-fiction authors, not journalists, and that also makes a huge difference IMO.
What's cyberpunk ? A very twisted and very cruel vision of the future, basically.

Go on, wild bill, ya know ya wannaAnd don't get me started on Cybergoths.
That's exactly the point. Cyberpunk is in its very essence a political genre, a depiction of grim days to come. Cyberpunk authors are visionaries (or at least very clever social critics).Dark wrote:Sounds like modern-day Britain to me.Badlander wrote:It includes drugs, corporations, violence, corruption, music, technology, body modifications, cyberspace, pollution, style, medias...

Don't forget Tron ! I know it's Walt Disney, it's for the kids, blah blah blah... It's cyberpunk nonetheless.Syberberg wrote:Look for books by William Gibson, Rudy Rucker, Philip K. Dick and Neil Giamon, to name a few. To a certain extent, some of the manga films are cyberpunk, otherwise films like Bladerunner, Brazil, Hardware/Mark 13, Rollerball, Mad Max and Deathrace 2000. Some, like the Mad Max films have a post-apocalyptic or post-industrial backdrop.
