Isn't this the third or fourth such re-animation since the 80's?
Maybe Dave can supply the original article and we can judge by ourselves?
That would be nice.

i dont know dave simpson personally, but he's a good friend of a couple of people i do know, so i guess it could be worth a try...
i've already said that if dave still wanted to find a home for the photos of mr marx in the fav' (which i gather are pretty groovy!) then we'd be happy to host them
it doesnt do any harm to ask does it?

they also omitted a raft of photos he submitted with piece, including some of gary marx poncing about in his best shades, in the faversham last week
Any chance we'd get the full thing in the Guardian Weekly
We've got that one at school

The enduring image of the Sisters live is of four black stetsons poking out of dry ice: a cross between Once Upon a Time in the West and horror flick The Fog
My favourite Sisters song is
Last Exit for the Adrenochrome

hello, guys and ghouls. Time to clear things up
1) This piece was not "savagely edited." In fact it was edited as little as anything I've ever written. All that visibly went for space was Steve Severin's lambasting of Marilyn Manson's music and the fact that Claire was in the initial Sisters line-up. Oh and a tiny mention of Flesh For Lulu. Although the "cod-vampiric" line was changed from "vampiric."
2) No idea where this idea that I submitted photos came from. I am a journalist (although some may disagree) not a photographer. Someone did take a photo of Gary and it was set to be used until the last minute when an advert came in at the bottom of the page and nobbled it. A shame.
3) Sure looks like a pentacle to me, nitpickers!
4) Are you saying the Sisters were men without hats??
5) I have laboured under the misapprehension that Eldritch meant "wizard" for at least 20 years, but bow to your and the Oxford English Dictionary's better judgement. I would maintain that Andrew looks more like a wizard than a ghost, but I haven't seen him lately.
6) Trying to cram the history of goth in 1600 words is a bloody nightmare. You can never please everybody; you just hope to please most.
Darkly...

I bought the Grundig, although I felt a bit ashamed, I did have my copy of Rubber Monthly to hide it in when i came out the newsagents so I wouldnt be too embarassed.
After reading about Goth being back the only thing that really crossed my mind was which was the greater number - those that thought it would never become fashionable again or those that thought it had never actually gone out of fashion.

I found the artical a decent read and it seemed that Dave Simpson had done a decent amount of research or had a fair knowledge of the early Goth(ic) scene.
it was also good that the Dave did not claim that goth had gone (like so many other jurnalists in the past) but that "The movement went underground and fractured"/developed.
btw I think Zombie Goth was a referance to
death rock for any one thats confussed!

Zombie goth was a term Mrs. Fiend told me about - someone had posted on the Fiend myspace about it.
Death rock? That's a new one on me...

This is the US equivalent of goth. It's been used since the early 80s. Think Christian Death.

So, it's a star inside a circle... that makes it a pentacle, right?!
For some reason I never thought of the sisters' logo-in-a-circle as a pentacle/pentagram. I always looked at it as a hollow star (without the "lines" creating a hexagon in the center, if that makes sense) because I never saw any trace of lines connecting it. For example,
more like this. Is picture that a pentacle? I always thought it wasn't, but since I'm not an authority on paganism and I'm not quite interested in it due to tons of "occult" kiddies (sorry to any real pagans), I couldn't say for sure.
It also could be noted that usually,
the old logo itself isn't inside a circle at all. Except when it's within a circle of text, as on the compilations. Maybe that's what others were trying to get at?

Claire was the DJ at the Phono, now goes out with Mick Brown but orig. was Andy's girlfriend. Played keyboards in a fledgling Sisters.
The pentacle thing really is splitting hairs. It's a star in a circle thus looks pentacley; doesn't necessarily refer to black magic (I know it doesn't). Never thought of it as a Suicide tribute but they were a big influence.
Obviously Converse are in league with the Devil

But what circle are you talking about ? Maybe I didn't make myself clear. This has nothing to do with the Sissies :
It's just a pentacle I randomly picked from the net just to show what the head and star logo is
not. As I get it, not even all pentacles have stars. Anyway, the head and star logo has no circle whatsoever (except for the compilation albums, as it has been mentioned).
Someone else here might confirm : the star
is a reference to Suicide's first.
