"Opinions" change with age, the 30/40 somethings on here have probably had to put up with a lot more in life to jaundice our "positive" outlook on life, we've had some of the "fire in our bellies" put out by circumstances the young'uns have yet to face, but wait a while, it'll come to you all
It's why we can have a "We're right......you're wrong" attitude, it comes with age, there's a line in a "James" song that says, "I've become the kind of Man I always hated", I'm looking at him most morning in the mirror :|

I am starting to find that too (not that you're the man I've always hated, scotty!), too boring to put why, but it's all to do with work and getting onwards and upwards :|

BTW I think you expressed your thoughts very well

Well said Pilot! :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
Youth is far too good a thing to be wasted on sorting out the universe:
Get Pished! Destroy!
... while you still can

and I am that man in the mirror :|

About the best thing about Christmas, that is. Tourists in town (or any crowd at that time being 'Christmassy') can be a bit annoying, but in the end who doesn't enjoy a good meal and some nice drinks to go with it.

Too True, our younger members are just going to have to accept this as FACT

as another "oldie" (albeit one for whom mirrors hold no fear :innocent: )
i have to agree that knowledge when combined with experience certainly gives at least the beginnings of wisdom.

however age is no excuse for giving in to the man; nor should it neccessitate
watering down or abandoing your beliefs and morals.
in short:
NEVER SURRENDER.
NEVER COMPROMISE.
EVEN IN THE FACE OF OBLIVION.

grow up, get a job, struggle through it, watch the government erode your liberties
That just reinforces my opinion even more. Why would I want to have children, knowing I'd have to put them through that?
Jesus loves you
I'd rather not be loved by someone who's favourite song is "Venus in Furs", thank you.

People!

Re the young 'uns "debate" - as one of the young(er) members of this board, but one who chills with old codgers, maybe I can bring a bit of balance to this one?

Age might tend to bring some degree of wisdom, but it by no means guarantees it. Likewise, youth does not guarantee half-baked opinions.

It can be a general rule but life is far too random to adhere too strictly to general rules. A 15 year old could very easily have had experiences in his time that an 80-year-old man never has.

I've certainly found individuals significantly older than me - I won't name names - to be as capable of ill-thought-out rants, whingeing self-pity, and everything else that might irritate the living s**t out of you, as any teenager.
If not more, because once someone gets hold of the conviction that they've Lived, their ignorance is impenetrable. There's no fool like an old fool and there's no fool like someone who believes they've seen it all.

The young chaps on HL may have their Rick-out-of-the-Young-Ones moments, but quite frankly, so do all of us. We just get away with it :innocent: .

Personally, I think they are some of our most astute and witty posters.
