Fair point, the last tour wasn't typical of what they have produced throughout the noughties. By contrast, the Josephs Well gig in 05 (who said 'pub band'! ) was bloody full-on and severely stonking. Ditto Leeds Uni back in 2001. I couldn't possibly comment on the pre 85 gigs, other than to say it all sounds (from bootleg) a bit 'goth'. And just as similar in terms of repetition / groove as the current incarnation, only slower and duller. Just one man's opinion, and like I say, I'm not one to judge. Just wish I'd been stood in front of the 83 raucous-as-fook version.

Sorry, but I beg to differ there, sir. Floodland was the first TSoM material I heard, and only because KROQ in L.A. (where I lived for part of 1988) had "This Corrosion" in heavy rotation. I'd never heard anything of theirs before; actually, it was the first time I'd even heard of *them*! I discovered the pre-'87 stuff much later. No brown-nosing or lying here, I'm afraid - I don't do that kind of crap, anyway. So pfffffffffffffffft to you.

I also got into them through Floodland, but would I have stayed so long with them if it had not been for the pre 1987 stuff.

Dude, I don't mean to be rude, but really, I don't care why *you* stayed so long with them, haha! I'm telling you about my own experience with the band and its music. How can I be "wrong" about a personal experience? LOL! And actually, I don't like much of anything off of FALAA. I like several tunes off of SGWBM, true - but my favorite album of theirs will always be Floodland. You can argue with me about my own preferences all you want, but that'll just make you an idiot.

My first and second encounters with The Sisters were whilst soaking in a bath at the old house with the John Peel show on, first time was Emma in session second was Temple of Love when it featured in one of his Festive 50s. Then I got the CNT album out of a record library next thing FALAA was released and my OCO* began. I remember being on holiday on Corfu when I bumped into two Jocks who had the latest NME with them and there on one of the pages was an advert for This Corrossion, I seriously thought about getting an early plane home. Just as well I didn't, it wasn't released for another month. Floodland is as good as religion to me, so I won't hear a bad word against it. VT was a major disappointment that I have grown to love over the decades and I still thing that line up was something special live. The biggest sadness in my OCO* is that I never saw them in their glory days and I have no idea just exactly how I missed them as I was almost a permanent fixture in Nightmoves, Strathclyde Uni and the QMU. When I finally saw them on the Smoke and Mirrors tour, I was extremely underwhelmed. I'd have been pissed right off it I hadn't met Derek R for the first time and they did play Never Land (a fragment). Then I found here and the rest is history...

i know this could go on and on but i don't think anybody has yet to say f**k me vision thing is the best one which in a way proves my point, the reason this isn't in sisters chat is because i don't have a sister, i once tried it on with two sisters but got nowt

i have to say that i don't really listen original albums, may be once a year each one, but i always listen the sisters and other bands live, it the way i like it.
big thanks to people who recorded & filmed gigs, otherwise i would have give up since a long long time.

f**k me some songs on Vision Thing are the best they've ever written... far better than the goth jabbering of Floodland. I got into the sissies pre FALAA and cheered them for a few years until I saw that Ãœbergoth bird in the This corrosion video.
They got me eventually back on track with VT and the newer stuff.
