Locking these threads puts a mod in an awkward position. It is accepted that you lock posts that are offensive, or double birthday threads, or advertising threads fom spambots, but when you, as a mod, lock a thread just because you don't understand an inside joke, people are going to frown and yell 'censorship!!!'.SINsister wrote:It *could* always be locked, too, of course...but I suppose that that would end the sporting atmosphere pretty quickly. Hmm.
The 'drifting down the board' is a sign of people's disinterest in the topic and will have more effect in the long run.
I think...

the green biro thread was in reference to the the fact that the most relevant thing that many of the 'community' could find to respond to over the entire christmas period was a new female member, a former member at that, reinventing herself and you lot being too daft to notice _ probably because a lot of you had your hands on your cocks at the time.Izzy HaveMercy wrote:I can't see the difference between Keith's Dad's postings and PiB's postings, or some of the Aulde Thrash Harry/Francis posts, or even some of the 25men posts, to name but a few.
Most of the time I don't react upon these posts, I did now because KD put in some unintelligible (YouTube) coding and I thought it kinda amusing to reply with a logarithm. har har.
OTOH, as said, the recent Green Biro thread falls in the same category as this post.
Just let it drift down the board I say.

back in the day, if you bother to look back to then Iz, you'll find that there were many 'cryptic' posts, maybe people got to the point of them quicker.
i personally like the people who make me laugh contributing, invariably the irreverent and quite possibly irrelevant, but never inane..the kind of thing that pops up once in a blue moon
..anyway i really can't be arsed

Actually, some of us were attending to (what would later prove to be) terminally-ill parents at the time that the member in question had first made herself known here at HL, and thus had no room for such trivial goings-on. Therefore, her "reinvention" was news.paint it black wrote:the green biro thread was in reference to the the fact that the most relevant thing that many of the 'community' could find to respond to over the entire christmas period was a new female member, a former member at that, reinventing herself and you lot being too daft to notice _ probably because a lot of you had your hands on your cocks at the time.

And ya know, some of us also really just don't give a damn, whether the missives in question are "cryptic" or otherwise. Most of it's utter foolishness, with no basis in reality, after all. For example, unless Von-related "information" comes straight from ol' Von's yapper, with irrefutable proof as to its origins, I plan to take it all with a whole boulder of salt - always have, always will.
Your crass commentary's unnecessary, PiB, and as far as I'm concerned, it's unwanted, as well. If you truly can't be arsed, then why not take a hike? I certainly won't stop you.

Christ, there's a name I haven't heard in a while... I've recently been catching up on old posts on alt.gothic, and there was a totally s**t insane woman on there who was very similar in her tone to some similar people we've had here. Irritating at the time, but an amusing memory.boudicca wrote:I don't wish to get sucked into this any more... wish I hadn't started it

Oh, I remember who Rosalie was, I shall now cease using the name lest I invoke her HL is a blessedly flame-free place, let us keep it that way.

Some of us were busy getting their first child, PiB. And maybe I shouldn't have commented on your posting cryptic threads all the time.paint it black wrote:Izzy HaveMercy wrote:I can't see the difference between Keith's Dad's postings and PiB's postings, or some of the Aulde Thrash Harry/Francis posts, or even some of the 25men posts, to name but a few.

Then again, some of us don't deserve the 'hands on cock' remark. Some of us have a life and have other things to do than to peter out every little cryptic reference here on the boards.
Sisters-related or Von-related quotes are well-known here, but not everyone is on PoisonDoor or on alt.gothic or on Dominion.
Telling it thus could have saved some of us a lot of time and sniding remarksPiB wrote:the green biro thread was in reference to the the fact that the most relevant thing that many of the 'community' could find to respond to over the entire christmas period was a new female member, a former member at that, reinventing herself.
Anyway, case closed from my point of view. Do carry on, I'll just stay out of the cryptic threads then.

Just now I need to work out Thunderbird's account settings and stuff, and get through the next 3000 messages I've missed since September.
And maybe I'm just a patient masochist.

Call me old fashioned, but a thread called Winnie, and not a single reference to a bear of little brain? Poor. Shoddy, in fact.
