Only 2 English dates??? One in London (hate the wretched place) and the other in Leeds.
One in the south and one in the north.....any chance of one somewhere in the middle???

Now to add up my pennies and see whether I go to both, or just the London one...
Eh? Leeds is in the middle. Or are us Scots, Welsh and Irish left out from now on?Andy Christ 666 wrote:Only 2 English dates??? One in London (hate the wretched place) and the other in Leeds.

Maybe I should rephrase my post....Big Si wrote:Eh? Leeds is in the middle. Or are us Scots, Welsh and Irish left out from now on?Andy Christ 666 wrote:Only 2 English dates??? One in London (hate the wretched place) and the other in Leeds.

A UK tour should be more than just 2 dates, London and Leeds but also Birmingham, Glasgow and maybe even Dublin would be better.'
As for 'Has no sympathy for anyone who won't travel outside their comfort zone...'
I agree, if it's down to pure lazyness, but some of us have certain dificulties in travelling too far due to phsyical limitations...

I'm not sure about posting images but good one Quiffy - It was a mystic meg moment (old and wrinkled these days)
I was hoping a little flicker of affection might swing the balance here
you and paint it black seem to have a little more advanced knowledge, the London or Leeds venues doesn't advertise the gigs, any idea why?

Agreed.Big Si wrote:Sorry. To some of us Leeds counts as South
I've just put in for holidays that week cos I've got tickets for the Ultravox tour in Edinburgh (and possibly Glasgow) at the weekend. So I'll have to work out if Leeds or London are viable.
As for comfort zones, some of our comfort zones are dictated by finances or other commitments.

I just had the same reaction to 'the middle' as I'm sure all the resident Scots had. No doubt they'd be ecstatic if Glasgow were on the itinerary...
Thing is, it's not really an 'English tour' - it's a world tour during which they managed to secure a couple of worthwhile UK gigs. That in itself is a small miracle.
Hopefully there's some way to get round your difficulties so you can make the Leeds show - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you

No need for apologies, if they do decide to gig a bit nearer to the midlands I'll be there, if not, hopefully there'll be other tours in years to come.7anthea7 wrote:My apologies, thenAndy Christ 666 wrote:As for 'Has no sympathy for anyone who won't travel outside their comfort zone...'

For a world tour though, it does seem strange not to do a few more gigs in their homeland.

If you've been following the (most recent) 'Why Won't Von Make A Record?' thread, the consensus seems to be that touring is probably a given - at least until he just can't any longer.Andy Christ 666 wrote:if they do decide to gig a bit nearer to the midlands I'll be there, if not, hopefully there'll be other tours in years to come.

The issue with UK dates appears to be with promoters - who are notoriously oblivious to The Sisters continued ability to draw an audience despite the lack of a major label contract This also obtains in the US, although happily not in the Pacific Northwest where I live, at least for the most recent couple of tours (prior to which I lived in civilised areas where it was never an issue...). Of course, we're also generally more inured here to travelling ridiculous distances to get to anything
And then there's The Von Factor: he won't do it if he can't get what he wants. So these are the compromises we end up making because we're fans of such a charming curmudgeon

Which I don't understand, as The Damned have'nt had a contract since 2000ish,7anthea7 wrote: The issue with UK dates appears to be with promoters - who are notoriously oblivious to The Sisters continued ability to draw an audience despite the lack of a major label contract
yet manage to tour most of the world, to packed out venues virtually all year round without one,
their latest album was even self financed and put out by themselves.
I cant see why can't do the same.
Ah well, I suppose he has his reasons...

Just got this e-mail from Seetickets, who run the artistticket website. Sisters are top of the e-mail and in the subject line!
Seems that the sisters can headline after all in the UK, at least an e-mail, if not a festival!

The Sisters could still headline a festival. They could still be a big act. If Eldritch treated them as something more than a Saturday Job, which is the way Ver Sissies have been since 23 December 1993.
