Lyrics, Arms

Got any interesting thoughts on a set of lyrics? Any that don't involve the word "indeed"? Find yourself struggling to decipher all those obtuse references Von makes? Read "1959 And All That" and still no clearer? Nope, us neither. Postcards found lying in a skip around the back of the Chemists can be found here... Don't say you weren't warned.

People who frequent bars especially, I might add in Portland, as most of them are also strip joints, are usually lost souls, and a wraith is something trapped between life and the spirit world.
I know exactly what a wraith is and could go on to explain its historical and mythological orogins without having to look it up. :D But I don't think that it sounds like the sort of idea that AE would contrive.
Motz wrote:As far as I can tell, all of the lines posted have appeared in the other thread.
I was going to make the same point. I suspect it's quite significant.
Motz wrote: The "wraith room" stuff isn't original either.
Ironically, it was one of mine. I suggested it not as the actual words but as the rough sound of what was being sung in the hope that it might inspire someone else to work out the real thing. Didn't expect this.

Not 'mid-thirties' if she's been married almost 25 years and has a college-age daughter. Well, not in this country, anyways...

just checked her post on dominion...a true gem, i must confess
I met Mr. Eldritch at a bar in Portland back in November; maybe
"Met" isn't exactly the right word, as we never really spoke.
erm...then how the feckin' hell do you know that the song's meant for you, lady?

Yeah, yeah, and I've seen 'Fatal Attraction', too.

I'm just being alternately amused and horrified by a member of my own gender.

i'm starting to regret having scared her off this forum now... we've lost one highly valuable source of entertainment. :(

Sorry to be obtuse, but is there any evidence that "Song For A Girl From Portland," or whatever it was, is part of the song title? Or is that just editorializing?

None whatsoever. She's just a stalker who thinks she can get his attention that way.

In any case, as previously delineated, she's hardly a 'girl' if she's been married 25 years and has a daughter in college. Nor do I believe Von would be likely to write anything with a reference of that sort in the title - unless it were YCBTO II...

I had been thinking that a forum regular was doing it as a wind-up but the fact that she's gone off to do it somewhere else now makes me agree with Anthea that the woman is delusional. Which is sad.
Any more of that and we'll be round your front door with the quick-setting whitewash and the shaved monkey.

Agreed. I've probably sounded, erm, less than sympathetic, for which I should apologise - I'm not really a mean person by nature, although I m a rather sarcastic one. Sometimes that gets the better of me...

Nonetheless, I don't believe enabling someone with this kind of problem does anybody any good - most especially the person with the problem.

Hm. But don't you think it's true that people who have problems with people who have problems have their own problems too?
We all know that Mr Eldritch never reads this forum, right?, but we all know that he has his allies on Dominion, so if he's being "stalked" there as the rumour has it, and if it's a problem for him, then surely he's perfectly capable of defending himself by himself or by means of his allies, right? :D

Geezus, it seems that over the past few days I've become a real post-count whore, which is not my style, but I promise it'll end as soon as I get back to work which is tomorrow.

Hmmm.. maybe it´s just an 28 years old ( close to 29), young lady..living in a pretty small village with her two cats.

Black-haired, blue eyes and pretty tiny..

Maybe she´s sitting in the garden, listen to Shakespeare´s "Sommernachtstraum" or even Mary Wells´s "My guy" (..and maybe to Gene Pitney´s "Backstage I´m lonely")..

Maybe she wouldn´t hurt anybody, doesn´t say a word in six years, waiting for her chance to come anytime..

Maybe she just sits in the garden, watching the roses grow..waiting for a sign..anyway..

Maybe she´s really nice, very caring about Eldritch. Loves to cook, to read good books, drinks a lot of tea and coffee, wants to quit smoking and all that.. Maybe she´s a really friendly one..lovely...

Maybe she feels, like she´s in love. Maybe she has a big heart..
Maybe big enough to endure everything what a musician is experiencing..who knows?

Maybe he will take notice of her..anytime...

Maybe...

Hey, that's me!
Nope, hang on, I have 5 cats and I hardly ever drink tea, not to mention that I'm not as tiny as I used to be, and not as 28 as I used to be.  Nor do I intend to quit smoking.
But the rest is about right. :notworthy:
