Same here..... saw them 2009 and decided that it would be the last time I went to see them. I started 1985 and now I wish that I have stopped 2001 when they were celebrating 20 years as a band. I wish that that years gig in Arvika in Sweden was the last time I saw them. Then maybe my memory of them would be much warmer and dearer...

I have seen footage from this years tour on video and heard recordings. I have this weird hope that they someday, someday will rise again...
Playing a gig with really good sound, an updated lightshow, with just a little less smoke. Giving a great set including Temple Of Love, and not Temple Of Love-the extended part of the extended 12", re-introducing the original riff to First And Last And Always from the very beginning, stop playing half versions of Doctor Jeep, Detonation Boulevard, Lucretia My Reflection, Burn, Body Electric, More etc. More focus on quality of the numbers played rather than the amount of songs, which including not only stop play some songs in half but also stop playing them so fast. Anything else? Yes, stop playing Anaconda if they can´t bring back the original refrain. More variations on the setlist would not hurt. It is basically the same tour they started 1998 with a few changes here and there, but the core is the same.
Andrews voice is what it is. Nothing to do about that. One cannot blame for not singing as powerful (in my opinion) as he did when he was a recording artist some 20 years ago. But all of the above is changable. If they only bothered.

It really hurts me to say that Sisters of today is a lowbudget version of what they used to be. I still love the Sisters for what they was. Will always do.

Saying this. All respect to all who still love them and are keeping the name alive, even if the importance and status are died in the 90:s.
As long as you support them and attending the gigs there is a chance, even it is minimal, that someday, someday, armageddon will be held indoors once again....

I prefer almost all of the reworked versions over the originals. Especially Anaconda. And I prefer Eldritch's voice and delivery the way they are now.

For whatever that's worth, just felt I had to say it for some reason. The current Sisters kick.

When you don't release new material, you have to find ways to keep things interesting, at least for yourself. I quite liked the Train-Det Blvd. I thought it was clever... in 1997. At this point, it's all just tiresome.

That said, I would purchase a proper release of the "new" songs. The hope that Von would release these for free or in demo form is far beyond a pipe dream, though. If he won't release what they've already recorded for profit, he won't be giving it away as a Gift.

The variations they play of their songs (and covers) are each time another and a new pleasure to me ...

As to Anaconda ... the version they played in Vienna is the best and most enjoyable version I've ever heard ... ...

Perhaps, you had better go to the gigs, because live they are even better than what can
be seen in the vids or what one might gather from any audience recordings ... of course,
it's up to you to wait until they do what you want them to, but I guess that will take a long time ... ...

as for songs go, they are andrews songs and i suppose he has the attitude of, i will play them how i like, he must get bored of playing the same old s**t over and over !

Well, it does depend on the song. He can't bellow like he used to during Logic, Giving Ground etc., but I think he does a banging job where the calm voice, the snarl and the howl are called for. Ribbons, Susanne, the new Anaconda, those sorts of songs. And the colour of his voice and his delivery are just perfect to me, but I suppose these are matters of taste.

I first saw them 1985. Since then I have seen every tour. A couple of gigs every tour. Last time was a few gigs in 2009. I find it hard to believe that much has happened and changed since 2009.
The videos I have seen and recording I have heard from the last two years did not impress me. Maybe it is true that one cannot tell exactly how it is from a video or audience recording. But it looks and sounds exactly as before. I have seen and heard soooo many recording with Sisters so I can hear if the performance is better and changed even if the sound of the recording is not the best.
I still think the vocal is too low.
I still think that they sometimes overuse the smokemachine.
I still think it is more or less the same setlist. What was new this year? A half (of course) version of More which did not impress me at all. And another instrumental. This is not the The Sisters Of Mercy I used to know. And John I´m Only Dancing sung by another than Andrew Eldritch. What is this??? A student party?
And the rest.... well, same as it ever was. It was a long time ago I went to see them without thinking "I wonder if they play Crash And Burn, Ribbons, Anaconda, Alice, Susanne, Flood II, Temple Of Love (at the end, and only the second part of the extended version)..." and it was a long time ago since I thought that and was wrong......

This is of course a matter of taste. But this is not how they used to be when they actually was a band. And I think that is a shame that their fans of today think that the sound of their concerts today are good. Don´t settle for second best.... You deserve more....

And for me, I will always love The Sisters Of Mercy. When they were The Sisters Of Mercy. When they actually performed for the audience and had good sound and when one was not really sure of what the setlist would be....

Even not many here think that they will get to hear Gimme Shelter again. Or Emma, or Nine While Nine, or Some Kind Of Stranger, or Lights.
And so on..... As a lot here seems to think that every show nowadays is good makes me wonder... do you only like a handful of Sisters songs?
Or have you gave up wishing for other songs, cause you know you won´t get it?.......

This is an unfair description of the 2011 tour, at least; they definitely were a band, and put a great deal of effort into it. Crystal sound during at least some of the shows. You are correct about the setlists though.

I think there has also been a deliberate philosophical change in their sound over the years - between Alice '83 and Alice '93, Eldritch's voice is more rooted into the mix in the latter, etc. It comes down to which you prefer.

I think each of the line-ups has had some songs they did best, and others to which they weren't so well suited. Same with the current one really, and I don't mind the lighter Logic as long as they really kick ass on my favourites. Of course, if you like best all the songs the current Sisters don't do as well as previous line-up did, I can understand the problem.

I do wish for new songs -and, hell, there has been a slow trickle of them- but I'm also perfectly content to hear these stonking renditions of old ones.

I wasn't there to see the 80's Sisters in person. But listening to Budapest or Paris 2011, or Mera Luna 2010, or the Pearson era, I just prefer them to the eighties sound, and to everything else. But I'm repeating myself and I don't have anything new to say here, so I'll bow out of the discussion now.

Having seen the Sisters more times than I care to remember since May 84 I think nothing will beat the Black October tour of 84.

However I keep going back for more as there are still some magical moments that make it all worthwhile. Good Things & Rain From Heaven in Belgium, Kiss The Carpet in Leeds.

I'd like nothing more to hear Heartland, Gimme Shelter, Walk Away but I know its not going to happen so i'm not disappointed.

In 2011 the Sisters are what they are. You can either take it or leave it.
