I don't know why you gotta be so overdemanding.

The last few times I saw them the sound (and band) were pretty good. To be fair even back in the day they, like any band could be hit and miss. And it really comes down to personal opinion. Wembley, which along with RAH could I suppose be seen maybe as the pinnacle of their career I wasn't that impressed with though I know others were. I hope they go on forever. Snow Patrol exists for ***** sake!

Well, if he would care, Mr. E could be quite satisfied with the outcome of this poll

Or possibly not. 15% of rabid fans think he should have jacked it in nearly 30 years ago and just under a third would rather the band no longer existed !

after 20th birthday tour. since then, the sound and singing went downhills way too fast

Go on forever! Even though it has been a while since their last cd (You know, in 1998 War on Drugs, the one with all those cool tracks we heard live: Summer, Suzanne, Romeo Down, Come together... ) That sparked a new interest in the Sisters.....

Hang on...

Still, go on forever, they amuse us. :P But seriously after 1999 something changed. Not just his look but the vocals were way less powerful. The 80ies gigs could be shambles but awesome at times. Same goes for the 90ies. Some amazing performances, stonking new songs..the noughties well were less impressive. Although a few suprises remain, Rain from heaven, No time to Cry...

Let's see what happens next. :)

Exactly. Even if the concerts were hit and miss back in whichever day you consider their heyday, they at least released records as well, so there was always something of quality. A live band that mostly sounds crap live and does nothing else to justify its existence is just taking the p*ss.[/i]

So fortunately their sound was quite cool during all the Sisters XXX Tour ... ;D ...

Btw, BillyBadBreaks, Stekene was also an interesting gig with a good recording, and also Berlin, Esch, Glasgow and Sonisphere ... ...

"Go on forever", obviously. :von:

the sisters have provided the soundtrack to 3/4 of my life so far, and what they have meant to me for the last 30 years they will always mean to me, regardless of anything.
if you want to, you can easily pretend that the sisters called it a day 20 years ago- just dont go to the gigs.
but while eldritch still wants to play for us, he is more than welcome. i will always get excited at the prospect of seeing them live-and while there are people who feel that way about the band then who should begrudge us the pleasure?

Sisters Forever. Forever Sisters.

I am glad people do still enjoy the band, I was just curious to see if others shared my frustration

Frustration? I believe that Von never frustrated himself on position that he cares what happened to his band. As long as people are willing pay to see The Sisters of Mercy at stage, Von is happy.

Can you imagine Von doing something else than swinging his ass on stage? I can not.

I don't think so. And I can imagine :von: doing a lot of other things ... always, i.e. back in the years, recently and in future ...

... and a lot of interesting things, btw ... ;D ...

if your football team -passionately supported since childhood through the glory days- hasn't brought any silverware home for thirty years do you stop going to see them and demand that the club be dissolved? just a thought....

As a West Brom fan I would have to say I am used to supporting a losing cause!

better a new album-less sisters/wba fan than a villa fan...or a manc....or a landaanar (all london teams but specifically the 'ammers who like the afore-mentioned villa play in the most repulsive colour combination imaginable. more footballers should wear black but there's only one bloke who ever seems to turn up to play dressed like that.) :innocent:

wouldn't it be funny if this vaguely blasphemous thread has just been turned into a fitba-hate-thread.

Glad you like them, Dr Jeff :D
They still have good concerts in them, even if the whole album deal has gone fishing!

If they deliver yet another substandard setlist on this tour, then they/he really should chuck it. They'll end up playing to two men and a dog and none of us want to see that. Do we? ;D
