quite yet - we've still one game to play each.
Very true and where there's life there's hope but to be realistc we've played two and lost two which makes us one of those hopelessly s**t countries we used to laugh at. Group whipping boys and all that.

That's rather kindly put - England being condemned by the Maths
Or you could say that Italy just didn't play well enough to keep England's hopes alive
Or you could just say England were crap

Oh dear. And can we rely on our Premiership stars to go down swinging against Costa Rica or will they not be in the mood and get a battering?

Every time Poland played in Euro or World cup since 2002, people here were doing the same math, same theoretical models, so i know that feelings well enough (however I've never shared it, but that's a different story) -- the truth is, it's all lost, all that England team can do now is play the best as they can do now, to wipe a little bit of so~called disappointment that they "gave" you. In Poland such situation is called game/match of/for honor.
at least Netherlands, another team that i like with England, is still in the game.

Unfashionable as it is to follow and support England, I do anyway. Italy weren't that much better than us really. We all know who made the difference for Uruguay. Hopefully we'll field some of the young 'uns for the final game to blood 'em with no fear.
And whilst everyone is pissing themselves laughing at us, we could be a lot worse - we could be Spain.
And now here's the weather...

True. They are not really a team and just couldn't manage to play as one. It will take some time to change that...

It's been England's problem for good 10-15 years. Individually, some cracking players. As a team? Just can't seem to get the right combination going. The "Golden Generation" were too far up their own arse in believing the hype, if you ask me.

Yes, it really looks like. Fact is, however, that the say new generation quite visibly differs! Which is a good thing to note ...
...
One problem seems to me that so many foreign players do the trick in Premier League Clubs ... and when it comes to a national team,
British junior (and senior) stuff seem somewhat asked for too much being confronted with their Premier League team colleagues on the
other side of the field ...

On a slight tangent. This is possibly the worst thing I have ever read...

If more "Americans" are watching soccer today, it's only because of the demographic switch effected by Teddy Kennedy's 1965 immigration law. I promise you: No American whose great-grandfather was born here is watching soccer. One can only hope that, in addition to learning English, these new Americans will drop their soccer fetish with time.
What moronic drivel.
