I think the first thing we should do is to define what "favourite" is.
Is it, in our opinion, the best constructed song we've heard?
Is it that song that was made just for you?
Is it that song that has accompanied you throughout your entire life?

Yes. All of the above and more. That song, that ever since you heard it, has stayed with you. Always been there by your side. Always there for you. Through the good and the bad. Always knowing your mood and responding accordingly. Picking you up of the floor when you crash and burn and reigning you in when you get too high. Sometimes it's the answer to all the mysteries of the universe. And sometimes it's just a bloody good pop bop.

That song. :notworthy:

Continuing the relentless quest for my favourite song, seems to me the word “always is too strong.
First, it leaves aside the newer songs. To me, the word "always" goes back to childhood, but ok, let's not go that far. Teenage years, perhaps?

Second, "Always knowing your mood and responding accordingly", only if your mood doesn't swing to extremes like mine.

Third, "Picking you up of the floor when you crash and burn and reigning you in when you get too high", depends a lot on the mentioned moods above.
When I'm down no song can bring me up. Certain songs are bound to have an effect but aren't necessarily the best constructed ones. The best constructed song I've ever heard is definitely “This Corrosion.

As for the rest, still wondering.

So, is that “Heartland best of moving forward and putting our virtual founders to shame?

In that case, shouldn’t we divide it in categories?
Best song of the 70’s
Best song of the 80’s
Best song of the 90’s
And Best song of the Sisters?

And yes, I believe "This Corrosion" changed my life in oh so many ways!
If I'd never listened to "This Corrosion" I'd never known the Sisters, never had been to the places I've been, never had met the people I've met, never had chosen the path I've chosen, and certainly wouldn't be here talking to you [although some people would like that :notworthy:  ].

There's also this song that means so much to me, strangely called "Dead Inside" by the Golden Palominos, but now I'm not sure if I should keep this nick, although everybody knows me by DI and it would be s*** to change my nick so let's keep it until I'm really sure it has changed "inside"...

Meanwhile I've thought about deleting the Alternative group...
