Just listened to our Raspberry Reich's poisoned present and wanted to add:

"Words are just dust, in deserts of sound."

Another quite nice statement imho. Sums up about everything in life, once you talk too much about one thing it gets boring. Counts for politics, relationships and social health care reports.

Nothing to say I ain't saying anymore
I bled all I can, I won't bleed no more
I don't need no one to understand
Why the blood run hold the highered hand
On heart
Hand of God
Floodland and driven apart
Run cold
Turn
Cold
Burn
Like a healing hand
Like a healing hand

Well, I am more inclined to use the refrain then, as it does what a refrain should do: sum it all up.

"I don't exist when you don't see me, I don't exist when you're not here."

Reminds me on one of my ex-girlfriends which behaved like my girlfriend when she was with me, and did not behave like a girlfriend when she went out on her own.

Far too many, largely dictated by mood.

I've always liked the really simple

"Acid on the floor so she walk on the ceiling"

Then there is

This is the Floorshow the last ideal its
Populist got mass appeal the
Old religion redefined for the
Facile futile totally blind..."

or

"Memories may last for years but
Names are just for souvenirs"

So many, so many...

the giant steps we had to take
the path that ever promise made
to die in dream, dissolve and fade

All of Lucretia is fantastic. He out did himself with that song. And the vid...Genius. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

That's why it is my favorite song ever. :innocent: :von: :innocent: :von: :innocent: :von:
I haven't seen the vid but I imagine a vast stone clad hall with a long banqueting table. Eldritch at one end and a beautiful woman at the other (oh look it's me !! ). We eat, then we decide to shag. We climb on to the table and crawl towards each other, batting the victuals aside until we meet in the middle and devour each other. (sigh) :)

One of my favorite lines is " sitting here in this bar for hours, trying to write it down".
I like the atmosphere it conjours.

"I've seen the best of men go past
I don't wanna be the last"

Especially the way he sings 'past' and 'last'.
In the era of fecked-up R&B-gangsta-black bogus, it's quite a relief to hear an real Eengleesh pronunciation!!!

(nothing against black, only r&b :innocent:)

As a segment , this bit of lyrical lovleyness......

I got nothing to say I ain't said before
I bled all I can, I won't bleed no more
I don't need no one to understand
Why the blood run hold
The hired hand
On heart
Hand of God
Floodland and Driven Apart

For an entire song...........

Adrenochrome

We'll turn away in a passive decision
We'll take the steps through the unmarked door
A look back for another collision
But the boys of the spires
Are boys no more

Not black and red boys
Frightened by the night
By the Catholic monochrome
The Catholic girls now
Stark in their dark and white
Dread in monochrome
the Sisters of Mercy
High tide
Wide eyed
Sped on adrenochrome
For the Sisters of Mercy
Filled with
Panic in their eyes
Rise
Dead on adrenochrome

We had the power
We had the space
We had a sense of time and place
We knew the words
We knew the score
We knew what we were fighting for
For the freedom
The time to choose
But time to think
Is time to lose
The signals clash
And disappear
The shade too loud
And the sound unclear
For the

High tide
Wide eyed
Dread in monochrome
Denied in spite
Disliked in monochrome
Panic in their eyes
Rise
Dead and monochrome
The Sisters of Mercy
Spite
On adrenochrome

The way is clear
The road is closed
The damage done
And the course
Imposed you

Coooooooooooool........... :von: :von: :von:

Top topic, can't believe I've just noticed it.

Anyway, to concur with Steve303

'words are just dust, in deserts of sound'

and

'seconds to the drop but it feels like hours'

and

'twenty five whores in the room next door,
twenty five floors and I need more'

are three instant classics, but really the discussion could go on and on and on because he doesn't write many duff lyrics.

Right up there with Stipey, and absolutely no-one else.

You know what, the lyrics to Adrenochrome are far more marvellous than I thought. It's only because they're not in Postcards from above the Chemist that I haven't pored over them for hours. There are a lot of very good jokes in there.
