Bizarre cover versions

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Yep.
I never, EVER want to hear it.
Really not that bad and MGT does some great guitarwork on it. This should really bash your ears though:

Jansenclone, Quiff Boy, I'd like to hear the pair of you come up with a better Hendrix medley.
True, I even have a soft spot for 'You Only Live Twice' even if I end up thinking of Robbie Williams now which can't be a good thing. But the Hendrix Medley... I mean, come on...

As for coming up with something better, doubtful too. Never tried Hendrix but we did attempt a version of BA Robertson's 'Bang Bang' once. That never made it out of the rehearsal room thankfully...

I agree with you about the guitar work. I don't know who the female vocalist is but she's pretty good. But Hussey's voice is bloody awful.
To not know and to ask a question is a moment of embarrassment; to not know and not ask is a lifetime of shame.

That was a recording of one of their very first rehearsals so it doesnae count. But what about Roadrunner? And yes Johnny didn't know the lyrics to that either! :D

Roddy Frame/Aztec Camera used to cover Jump, Emily, maybe that's the one you're thinking of?

I haven't been here in awhile  So, I apologize if some of these have already been mentioned:

World in My Eyes-The Cure
Love Will Tear Us Apart-Swans
Helter Skelter-Siouxsie
Dead Souls-NIN

I'm too tired to list any more. LOL.

I also managed to download a version of The Cure doing 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' which is just wrong, they're just too close in style to do a cover...

i just have and its dreadful.

the drumming is shocking - sounds like the guy from def leppard after a couple of E's and a few lines of charlie, the guitars arent that much different to the original yet somehow managed to lack any character, and the synths are nasty and fat bob sounds like a castrated guinea pig.

the DM cover isnt to bad, if a trifle pointless.

Agreed. It's not very good at all. Stick with the Joy Div version

The Cure have also covered Hendrix's 'Purple Haze' and Gary Glitter's 'Do You Wanna Touch?' - both are worth checking out, and yes I've got 'em.

What about the Lords of the New Church doing "Like a Virgin" - that's class, especially the cover photo, Stiv Bators in a wedding dress with one bollock hanging out the side of his pants

If I can dig it out I'll post a scan.

I think some of their covers are pretty good. I particularly like the covers of World in My Eyes, Purple Haze, and Young Americans.

Well, there is no way of getting out that one, eh? The female vocalist is Anneke van Giersbergen from the Dutch metal group 'The Gathering'.
