1983, about the time Alice was released on 12". I'd seen the posters around the Leeds University campus and probably even heard the earlier singles down the Students Union disco, but didn't put two and two together until they started playing Alice and Floorshow regularly and I asked a better informed mate who it was by. Then I discovered the Phono and ... Oh, I've already bored you all with that one haven't I? Ho hum.

When would be the most unfortunate time to discover The Sisters, do you think? I'd say around 1993 sometime;

"Hey, this 'Under the Gun' song is pretty good... oh wow, they've got a great back-catalogue to delve into too!

This'll keep me happy for a while. Can't wait for some new material!"

Well... I started to listen in 1984, when i was 10 years old... Thanks to the oldest brother of a friend of mine. I use to play with dolls in their home while listen Sisters, Death Cult, Siouxie.... ooooooh... those wonderful days.....

I first heard them in 86-87. My friend's older brother was into 'that sort of thing'. Needless to say, I ended up being far better friends with the older brother.

That first cassette tape had FALAA on one side and b-sides and rarieties on the other. I took it to a party, where I played it for the real casualties in the kitchen and, presently, we got to 'On the Wire'. Most of the people thought it was rubbish. And you know what? I didn't get it either. It wasn't easy. I didn't really-and-truely even like it much. But I knew I should persist.

And the rest, he said reaching for his pipe and comfy slippers, is history.

Heard of them in 87

First saw them when they played Dominion on Top of the Pops in 88.

Had both albums, two t shirts and 3 or 4 singles within a fortnight.

I'm sure I've already done this; Mi$$ion on the Tube, friend's older brother saying, "Huh, the band Wayne and Craig were in before was loads better", taped me FaLaA. Being 16, I went out and bought all the 12"s I could find. (Alice, TOL, Reptile House and Body & Soul all in the 12" racks of my local record shop. Imagine!)

Then, of course, This Corrosion on TOTP; I bought a pair of mirrored aviators and thus began my descent into the abyss.

Also, I remember thinking it was a long wait between Floodland and Vision Thing!

Bloody was wasn't? Felt like ages!

Also the no shows for five years.

Watching Wake when it was three years old, it seamed ancient.

well, I suppose it'd make a good bedtime story...

During 1992-1993 with SGWBM when literally everyone in Belgium was wearing a Sisters jersey (I kid you not! )

I got a cassette tape from a friend from school, still get goosebumps thinking about that first time

I then bought the US BOX SET of SGWBM at an import section of Free Record Shop, then FALAA, Floodland (Elektra version I remember), Vision Thing. Ahh, those were the days

Hm ... late starter here ... at least from given the time my bad bad bad memory started to work even worse... around 1990 I started "knowing" the sisters ... never made it to get around until 1998 to buy all official records and so on, though ... I was born 10 years too late, hehe.

Maybe they're technically challenged. My guess is many of the early Sisters fans became disillusioned with the disintegration of the original line-up, Eldritch's apparent lust for commercial success/ fame at any price and the whole Vision Thing saga. I think I would have if I'd still been interested after First And Last. That's not to say those who found the Sisters later and appreciate the stuff I don't are foolhardy. Like it or not, you do develop certain impressions and expectations of a band, rightly or wrongly, depending on how you discover them. Many early Pink Floyd fans consider The Dark Side Of The Moon to be commercialised rubbish and won't give any credit to anything they did after Syd Barrett left. I'd never heard of him til a few years ago and think DSOTM if simply the best album I've ever heard.
