Really, Mr. Blackrose, it's most touching that you feel tender Mr. Eldritch is hurt or offended by abusive fans. But there are several problems with your argument:
1) every major band has its share of stalkers, weirdos, or generally aggravating fans. If it stopped them making music, there'd be little of it about. I personally can't think of a band that went on a fifteen-year sabbatical because of such fans, but perhaps you can.
2) Mr. Eldritch is, as we all know, able to give at least as good as he gets in the abuse and vitriol department, and all the evidence suggests that the abuse he does get trickles off his back much faster than most ducks.
3) I still don't understand quite how you equate the peevish comments about ass-kissing here with the kind of abusive behaviour that would have a serious impact on someone like Von, not least since, as we all know by now, HE HAS BETTER THINGS TO DO THAN SPEND ALL HIS TIME READING OUR POSTS. Although what these things are is not for me to speculate.

Agreed, although he does take up style-advices. At least he has cut off his face c**t after the general opinion on here was mostly negative.

I think if he ever decides to release something (which I'm sure he will) he needs to take into account that his fanbase is changing... I used to be more hard-core, now I still care but I no longer have to listen to the Sisters every day. I replaced them with Turbonegro, haha! At least I get to see Turbo a few times a year (saw them 10 times in 2005!), and I can count on them to release a new album in 2006. It would be nice to hear something by The Sisters but I am not desperate... and I'm sure I'm not the only one. There are so many good bands in the world!!!

true enough;but i'll say it again for the sake of it-

there are thousands of quite good/alright/not too bad/ bit boring/pants/ diabollical talentless abominations of bands bands.....and they all manage to trot up to their quarter century with over a dozen studio albums plus live/compilation etc: WHY THE FUCK DOES MY FAVOURITE ARTIST OF ALL ETERNITY GET TO BE THE ONE WHOSE BACK CATALOGUE CAN BE LISTENED TO IN AN AFTERNOON??

thank fuck for motorhead -at least they bang them out at such a rate that one in three sounds new.....not that any of their ungrateful bastard fans buy them.

That explains everything. A certain one of their bastard ungrateful fans is so busy listening to their new output he doesn't have time to put his own album out :innocent:

Same here.

I also think he listens to some live recordings of his own band and says to himself that we should not complain as a lot of stuff is doing its rounds.

I was having a bit of a think as to how he could go about releasing, promoting etc any new album/single/dvd.
I don't know anything about his personal finances, but I assume,as he seems to do very little in the way of paid work, that he made enough with The Sisters to afford to retire. But it doesn't stand that he would have enough to finance studio time, production, etc, etc.I seriously doubt The Sisters made THAT much money as a cult act during the late eighties.
So if that holds, who else could he get to finance it?No major will touch him after he reneged on his commitment to East West for two more albums,so maybe one of the large(ish) European labels like SPV,who seem to have no problem signing up possibly unremunerative old goffs like FOTN and Hussey?
I see ego being the stumbling block to that, quite honestly.
So taking all that into account,is it actually possible for him to get this stuff released even with the best will in the world from him?

wonder why anyone thinks that von is gay.
But thought about the "f**k me and marry me young"
statement. Could that mean that he doesnt like women?
But I know a picture of him with a (pretty) girlfriend

"fuck me and marry me young" in the song is a quote. he is on about the foolish ideas of "no-sex before marriage" types who end up throwing their lives away in an unhappy relationship just so as they can give in to their throbbing biological urges to get laid.probably.

This might sound a bit strange but I'll come straight out with it...

I Remember hearing someone say that they thought of certain songs as being friends. That these songs have been there for them at good and bad times in their life. When ever I hear "Alice" it takes me back to a few weeks I spent with an ex-girlfriend (And what a wonderful time that was, still makes me smile to this day)...

I think of the the Sisters and their songs as disjointed friends, they've always been a part of my life....(They don't have to be in my life everyday, but it's nice when they are around)....

I feel that Eldo and the Sisters are a friend that haven't fore-filled there full potential. I find it kind of sad that they never made it as big as I feel they should have....(Am I right In thinking they were poised to tour with metallica at some point. I seem to remember one of the Metallica band members wearing a Sisters T-shirt in one of their videos)...But now I fear they are consiged to work on the checkouts at Tesco. ;) ;D (Can you see it, Eldo pushing around supermarket trolleys In the carpark).

It's like a promising artist painting some paintings that the world has never seen before, and then deciding to give up painting....The feeling of "All that could have been and never was".

As for, "those abusive comments would put me off making music" BLAH BLAH BLAH!....(Do you have a forum devoted to your music/band/or you yourself) *Spoken to the person in question...

Surely it's better that someone cares about your small body of work and like it so much they are willing to discuss your work and what the lead singer is doing, and so on? Than no one giving a s**t about you or your work. There are thousands of bands out there that I have listened to and have forgotten in an instant. But the Sister touched my soul in some way and have all ways been there for me. (Even when ex-girlfriends haven't).

The thing is I DO GIVE A s**t...lol

*Goes on into the shady weeding section to pass on Boots to youngers....COUGHS*...."Go on try it, try it, you'll like it, honest...Try this and your never be the smae again"

absolutely- being hated is better by far than being ignored. failing to sufficiently breach mediocrity with your art ...not even being acknowledged as an interruption to the void preceding your arrival, is off-putting.
and i've personally always enjoyed playing to a hostile crowd (the bigger the better) more than playing to people who like you.

Wasn't it Oscar Wilde that said "the only thing worse than being talked about, is not being talked about"?

We hate Von for not releasing an album because we love him, and we love him because he refuses to do things any other way than his own, for which many probably hate him. Our calls to have Von kiss our rears for being a total bastardo are out of love and the 'hope', not faith, that he will release something.

It's nice that he does tour. But even that...without a new release, I highly doubt Von will come State-side ever again--it's too expensive and too little profit margin to make it worthwhile at all. It's not money, it's just hardly worth the trouble for smaller bands to tour the States anymore and play decent-size venues. It's a damn shame.

So there, I'm sure Von is big enough to take the abuse of venting fans, he's put up with the lowest of the low (British music press) and every other sort of pond life out there. In a world where Madonna can lift half an Abba song for an insta-hit, where can Von, who will rock out the same song with the Doktor, fit in?
