To hell with that - we MUST have "Total Eclipse of the Heart".

Ah, another Jim Steinman number there, H. Blackrose.

Perhaps "Bat Out Of Hell" would be a good choice too.

because they would be a laugh.
and both are excellent songs, as is "something's gotten hold of my heart"; which for some reason made me think of "heaven can wait" from meatloaf's " bat out ot hell" album.(i hadn't read Dark's post above when i first wrote this:spooky.) i think he could do a fine (even more) melodramatic version of that; and we already know he's a jim steinman fan.

'Scarecrow' by Ministry. I'm pretty sure that :von: would do a damn fine cover of that.

Jesus, Lee! Scare the s**t out of me or what? From there it is only a small hop, skip and a jump to such delights as "24 hours from Tulsa" and "tie a yellow ribbon"

:D

Mind you I've never been shy of fastening ribbons........

Not working too hard, I hope?

@ streamline:- there's only ever a fine line between beauty and ugliness, harmony and dischord, awesome and awful.
fortunately in the case of the songs you mention and the song i cited that fine line -or your hop, skip and a jump- is the only thing they have in common.

anything by the original black sabbath but preferably "sabbath bloody sabbath" or "national acrobat".i reckon he could do justice to "country girl" off of "mob rules" as well.
"three-quarters of the world are starving" -rudimentary penii (i'm sure the track's not called that but that's the opening line.)

i'm stopping there because i) it'll get sillier and i've had some harris; and ii)do you really need to know what else lurks in my record collection under "female vocal"?
anything with plenty of irony and absurdity associated with it,
and makes the doctor go bump in the night;
"confide in me" would be a good example.
If you couldn't smile at them playing that in 1997, then
I think your missing about 50% of the point of being into the sisters/at a sisters gig

but what would be funny or interesting about covering that??

look, theres the sisters doing a ministry song, i.e. a cover of a band
they helped to spawn. a few nods from some of the metal heads in
the audience, then its off to bed.
thats not the sisters way.

Ocean Moves, I did'nt say it would be a funny or ineresting cover, Just that I thought The Sisters would do a fine job of it.

Funny or interesting covers?

Glory Box by Portishead, :von: singing 'I just want to be a woman', could be amusing.

1969 with rewritten lyrics:

Last year I was 9 (9... 9.. 9...)
Didn't have a very good time
Now I'm gonna be 10 (10... 10... 10...)
Gonna have a bad time all over again

Well it's 1969 MOMMY!!!

My cover requests:

"I'll Be Your Sister" - Motorhead
"Some Velvet Morning" - Lee Hazlewood
"Hey Little Girl" - Syndicate of Sound
"Friday on My Mind" - The Easybeats
"Vindaloo" - Fat Les

I was listening to Vindaloo on New Year's Eve and thought the exact same thing, but I'd forgotten until now. Spooky :|

Synchronicity my friend.

And since Andrew seems quite fond of the medley concept, why not do a "Vindaloo/Rock and Roll Part 2" mix.

A couple of years ago I suggested "Heartbreak Hotel" - now, especially in Las Vegas it could suit well :D :von:
They could also make something of "Mecican Radio" (originally by Wall Of Voodoo").

Of course, someone could also do a cover of the song called "Venus" - you know, I'm your Venus etc, replacing the name Venus with a word p... but I think it would become more to Alien Sex Fiend than The Sisters.

The thought of them covering that song did cross my mind when it was on their intro tape on the 2003 tour. Not sure it would work but I'd like to hear them try. :)
Strange, Andrew, I'm agree with you in every respect :)

"Cool" GwenStefani. Frightfully good pop song - probably the best since the heyday of Cyndi and Cher. And how vicious would this sound in TSoM trim? mmmm...

"Young Americans" Davie Bowie. Bowie's vocal on this song is one of the most impressive things ever, but the song isn't as tough as his windpipe. I suspect Andrew can solve this problem.

"Space Dog" Tori Amos. Nice bass line for the Doktor, stupid lyrics for Andy to play with/laugh at.

"Sweet Thing/Candidate/Sweet Thing" Bowie. One of Von's favorites, and also one of mine. Just "Candidate" would be preferred for concerts, the whole thing is too long for live.

"Blasphemous Rumours" Depeche Mode. For all the obvious reasons, and because it's funny.
