dead_cowboy wrote:Here is my plan. I will gather some of the best sources of these songs through weeding (though if anyone wants to post superior versions online somewhere, that'd be most helpful). Obviously, seeing as how there are no soundboard recordings post-early 90s, I will do the best I can based on these recommendations. Then, I'll weed the collection. Sound good?

I tend to ignore the law in these situations.

There are already some cover compilations. With the exception of Comfortably Numb and the new Emma/Uptown Ranking, I'm trying to stick with new originals. If anyone else wants to undertake the very ambitious endeavour of gathering the best covers, be my guest, but I fear I'm already in over my head trying to assemble a new songs comp.

Love is the law in these situations

Anyways, dead_cowboy, are you going to master this compilation in any way or just leave it as is?

That depends whether I was quoting Crowley directly or by proxy of Von ;)

I was going to leave it as is. Unfortunately, mastering and the like is a bit beyond my capabilities. If anyone wants to step up, though, feel free.

I would say: try to use as few different sources as possible. If the whole CD sounds more or less the same, it will increase the listening experience. If you could get all songs in good versions from 3 or 4 shows you could create more of a "whole"... f**k, it's difficult to explain this in English!

It is completely, 100%, NOT a cover.

And one of the few new songs I like.

For those interested, I am still working on this new songs comp for weeding. I just decoded the 30 March 2003 Amsterdam show and I'm waiting on one more source. Obviously, given the varied and innumerable versions of these live tracks, I'm just going to go cherry pick from like 3-4 different sources to get the best overall. Once I get one more disc that's been weeded to me, I'll put it together and weed the thing.

Anybody knows if "Driven Like The Snow" has ever be played?

I like "Come Together" followed by "Train/Detonation Boulevard" best, which were constantly played between
1997-2000 tours.

But, "Come Together" on "EXXile In Euphoria" is the best

Driven has never been played live and probably never will...:(

I think "War On Drugs" sounds a little bit similar to "Ribbons" in terms of darkness with sisters flavour.

I come across it on several bootlegs, but almost of which has low sound quality. (too much echo, distortion and son on). Which bootleg has the best performance?

I only have it from Brixton 97 and M'Era Luna '00 and both are muffled :(
