whizz fact: when 1 was 12 i went to the monsters of rock with Dio playing 5heir first uk gig and whitesnake headlining. was the only time i saw Cozy Powell live

We saw Whitesnake support AC/DC there in 1980, I think. But the Whitesnake gigs at Liverpool Empire were the stuff of legend, was a great rock venue, shame it doesn't hold gigs nowadays, the Academy around the back is a poor substitute, though admittedly half the size.
edit: sorry, it was 1981, same year as Thin Lizzy at Milton Keynes in festival season. '79 was Zep at Knebworth, '82 had us at Roundhay Park to see the Stones and '83 was Lizzy and 'Sabbath' at Reading.

Saw Whitesnake at Donnington in 1990 and they were awful , Coverdale's voice was dreadful .

Whilst not exactly whirling around the front room, the opening 'Lady Moonlight' and 'Freeze' are simply stunning.
