The scene Mrs Hudson is listening to her music while doing house chores made me paused and laugh for 5 minutes

That was really good. I think my fave though was when the police asked if she knew how fast she was driving & she answered, "Of course not. I was on the telephone."iesus wrote:The scene Mrs Hudson is listening to her music while doing house chores made me paused and laugh for 5 minutes

I think it's a case of the emperors new clothes. Nobody is prepared to say it is absolute s**t for some reason.markfiend wrote:I enjoyed it, but if I want any Holmesiana on TV I'll dig out my copies of the old Granada TV Sherlock Holmes with Jeremy Brett.
It doesn't make sense, the convoluted, confusing and down right insulting plot lines are just, well s**t.
It bears absolutely no resemble to "Sherlock Holmes", it's so achingly cool it's depressing.
Jeremy Brett was great, but so was the little remembered series with Rupert Everett. Any of these, any day over this big pile of steaming bollox they are showing at the moment.
Clever? not as clever as you f**king think mate.
"We have too many cellphones. We've got too many internets. We have got to get rid of those machines. We have too many machines now." - Ray Bradbury.
I wouldn't say it's not clever. Rather trying to be too clever.
I think it really does need to be more about detective stories & should be more camp than cool.
The first 3 seasons were great I thought, but this one sort of went the same way as a Mish thread in the Sisters chat board.

Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

When they played "I want to break free" in one scene I did wonder was the joke on the viewer.

Well, first 3 episodes had/have that "detective stories" plot, under which was personal affair of Holmes'. It was in a way detective story, but more personal. As i wrote before, that gave (us) opportunity to know Sherlock and Mycroft better, because after that serie why know/learnt a little about them.Pista wrote:I wouldn't say it's not clever. I'm fine with that.
I liked it, but i must admit that i liked a bit more this classic twisted decetive story.
What i like in that serie is self-mockery about 'the Genius', 'clever' Sherlock.

Great piece of movie. Fantastic music and sound. I like that this movie is so old-fashion. Plot takes action in present times, yet i felt like it was classic from 50's. or 60's, maybe even 40's. And i'm still got main theme ('City of stars') in my internal stereo set. Plus all references. And jazz.

Just watched Dirk Gently (the UK version) and felt it really should've gotten some 10 more episodes. Tried to watch the US version afterwards but...just...no. Too much of a Dr Who ripoff there. (Yes, I know the story 'bout Adams and Dr Who...)
oh my word this is funny
Been watching Black Sails, and after finding it a bit ridiculous at first, am now well and truely addicted. Episode 31 I just watched was frankly amazing, not quite sure what to make of it. It's getting Vikings-esque.
31 was a bit intense what with the governor going platinum level psycho.bearskin wrote:Been watching Black Sails, and after finding it a bit ridiculous at first, am now well and truely addicted. Was about to watch this, before realising in the nick of time that it was presented by the unspeakably unbearable Dan "I-Can-Dumb-This-Down-More-Than-You-Previously-Dreamed-Imaginable" Snow.
"This is Jenny. She's the family sadist."
