Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

its always intrigued me how comic-strips without a coherent storyline are celebrated, but movies without one are panned... :|

moore is very cool at creating characters and interesting situations, but his dark, surreal, twisted nature does tend to get in the way of an intelligible plot ;)

Outragous.
I refer the right honourable gentleman to such titles as;
Swamp Thing
Top 10
Promethea

All of the above have fairly straight forward yet beatifully written (and coherent) storylines.

Yeah but V for Vendetta (the comic)... not so much.

Don't get me wrong, I love Alan Moore. To your list I'll add Watchmen, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, From Hell... (although the royal family / masonic conspiracy theory of the Ripper's identity is pretty much nonsense) ... and I'm sure there are plenty more I can't remember off the top of my head. (Isn't DR & Quinch an Alan Moore creation? )

But V is probably his least successful work.

Top 10 is so often overlooked but its probably my fav Moore creation.
League Of Extraordinary Gents is slowly drifting into confusion - the Century stuff isn't up there with the pre Black Dossier stuff.

Movies without a coherent storyline are OK but they still have to look or sound amazing. Otherwise, what's the point?

can't the same be said about comics?
From Hell is drawn really basic while the story is very complex, but the atmosphere is just perfect.

I haven't read the LoEG yet but most of the things by Allen More are really good.

somehow though I understand what you try to say Mark the movie version of V was indeed better but I think that is because AM makes more effort to write a story but he often misses the dramatic action that you need in a live action movie.
take Watchmen, it it waren't superheroes it would be one dull story, there practicly isn't any action at all.

but I'm a fan of these kind of stories. to bad AM retires from writing :(

Thanks for the heads up on Frankenstein (orig)
Most enjoyable and also a mirror on how far we have come in 100 years.
In 1910 two years at college got you the mystery of life, in 2011 three years at Uni doesn't even get you a job.
