You should read the book. It's a classic and has a hell of a lot more depth than the movie. Comic books ain't all shallow afairs. fact!

I shall check it out indeed, I thought that after I saw the film but eventually forgot about it I haven't really ever been into comics/graphic novels at all to be honest as far as actually reading them is concerned, but maybe I shall make an exeption here.

There IS a wonderful build to the film, the reverse filming works amazingly, the strong colours & angles are mesmerising......but yep, a couple of scenes are seriously full on and then some.

I've never looked at a fire extinguisher the same again

You got the slow bit right but it has very little to do with any sort of rental agrement, its more akin to sticking something in your pocket and walking away with a look of pure innocence.

Finally got around to watching Pan's Labyrinth last night (El Laberinto del Fauno) -- I'm still 'digesting' and not sure whether it's a recommendation as such.
