I heard that, too - I thought my hearing was going even worse than I'd previously suspected (too many years on the front lines...) until I realised every recording I'd heard had a different set of lyrics

Yea think
says
Me bad at the end...then says something then mumbles something else too but I'll pick that out later.
Listening on a crisper system so I'd also make a little change to the 2nd verse here's what I make as the Tienen version
STILL
You didn't say it made a difference
You didn't say you'd want me to
You did not hear it as I hear it
what you did was up to you.
Still
If it makes you happy
Still
If it makes you glad
Still
If it makes you happy
It makes you bad
You're real as can be, what you can't disprove
you can't return from new
anyone of you could hear it as I hear it
I still can't plan this through
Still
If it makes you happy
Still
If it makes you glad
Still
If it makes you happy
It makes me bad ....(and dumb)
Edit: Later. Reasonably sure there's some crowd noise at the end and I think Von says
then both
The more I listen to this tune the more I like it
Pure

DoubleEdit(only 4 hours
...Later. Later I now reckon Von says
soon both
Also I think the 1st line is;
You didn't see it made a difference It's still only what I hear (however clear) but I think the added poetry of touching on all the senses would appeal to
d'Man

it's about the virtues of sparkling or non-sparkling....
it's about making moonshine.....
it's about the best way to win at musical-statues...

STILL
You didn't say it made a difference
You didn't say you want me to
You didn't hear it as I hear it
And what you did was up to you
Still - if it makes you happy
Still - if it makes you glad
Still - if it makes you happy
It makes me bad
Your real has to be what you can't disprove
And you can't retake the move
And if one day you could feel you could be wrong
...I still can't write this song
Still - if it makes you happy
Still - if it makes you glad
Still - if it makes you happy
It makes me bad
There it is

Is the official site hosted on a 486 under Von's bed? The site is down just now and seems to be go down fairly regularly. Perhaps because like me you lot are frantically trying to get to the site to read the new lyrics.

Further investigation reveals someone has been messing about with DNS or something. Or maybe they've always been different servers?
http://www-sisters-of-mercy.com no longer works (just now) and that's the one Google has indexed. I have also noticed it bounces up and down the search results. Oh dear.
Code: Select all
www.the-sisters-of-mercy.com. 28498 IN A 213.130.34.7
www.thesistersofmercy.com. 3282 IN CNAME www.reptilehouse.com.
www.reptilehouse.com. 3572 IN A 82.138.252.13

I think it depends a lot on the URL you use.
http://www.the-sisters-of-mercy.com seems pretty flaky at the best of times, whereas
http://www.thesistersofmercy.com works just fine round my way.

does that mean that the version with hyphens is doing some kind of dns redirection? and does 213.130.34.7 keep falling over or something?
i have to admit i only ever use
www.thesistersofmercy.com and its almost always ok

www.thesistersofmercy.com (82.138.252.13) is a Fused Networks server in Surrey;
www.the-sisters-of-mercy.com (213.130.34.78) is a NTT America server in London. At least according to GeoIP. The Fused Networks server seems to host
www.reptilehouse.com also and is running a bunch of other services.
Maybe it's always been like this or maybe they've migrating or maybe...hmm.
Wild speculation: they've moved to a more powerful server to accommodate the reopening of the Reptile House store! A quick glance at the hosts' respective sites seems to indicate that NTT America offer managed hosting, where as Fused Networks offer colo...
Update: checking DNS from elsewhere it just looks like the-sisters-of-mercy.com hasn't propagated throughout the net yet to point at the new(?) host. Anyway, um yeah...as you were!
