One of my favourite quotes that :D

Not religious myself, on the atheist side of agnostic I think, but I can see why some people find they need a religion. And if they're cool with it, and don't go to the extremist side of believing, I don't see why there should be any problem with that.

I know for certain that some people believe, but they only have faith in what they believe in.

Who's in the stronger position?

;D

Prove it ;)

You don't know anything for certain other than 'cogito ergo sum'. You could be a brain in a vat being fed illusory sense-data for some unknown purpose. </the matrix>

I think "The Gauntlet" has been well and truly thrown down there, Andrew!

Proof is for mathematics and alcohol. I can live with a bit of epistemic uncertainty. ;D

It has, and very well too.

I'll need to not be sitting at a desk at work (if, indeed, I am) before I conjure a thoughtful yet witty response!

I can no more prove it than you can prove that there is a 'me' asking you to.

I'm either giving the vat theory credence because I'm disillusioned with the real world or dis illusion IS the real world. Sorry, bad pun but I couldn't resist.

Maybe I could phrase it as "I know for certain that I think I know for certain....." ;D

Welcome to the 21st Century.

I'm off to http://www.venetian.com/ in Macau; I hear it's beautiful

I met a traveller from an antique land
His skin looked like such a pretty emerald
The sky melted as a face on the breeze
I've never seen such bloody tears
Shed as joy over the evening sunrise
And the world watches us turn

...no, I don't know how I can make such crap up, especially when I've not even drunk anything. Oh well. There's your reality, your surreality, and everything inbetween.

Thank you for noticing. I just took the first line of that poem and went from there, writing as I thought.
I'm not sure if this says more about my mind's thought processes which should probably remain unexplored, or my unoriginality at having to rip off Shelley.

It's a tried and tested technique, and not to be sneered at, especially around these parts ;)

Thank you, Laz. If I put that to music at some point, I'll make sure to send you it. You never know, I have one person collecting everything I release.. one day maybe it can be more.
