I vote the suit too. It's iconic, maaaaan.

Re: health service, I don't know the UK system, but our's is closely modelled on it, and I can tell you straight up that while there is free treatment, government cuts have led it to being of very rudimentary/agricultural quality, with extended waiting lists (up to a decade or more for some types of essential life-saving treatment), patients on trolleys in hospital corridors, old ladies having to mingle with drunks and heroin addicts, and all the other wonderful joy that comes with it.

Maybe this isn't the place to start a debate about public health services, but I can't help feeling that this auction wouldn't be necessary if they were up to scratch.

I pay $132 every 3 months which covers all my basic health care. It doesn't cover any Ambulance trips (V expensive!), dental or prescriptions, but seems to cover pretty much everything else. So essentially it is the same as paying NI on your wages pretty much.

I could get Blue Cross cover which would cover any prescriptions I may need but that's an extra $40 a month.

As I've never needed to take any medication in my life (barring stuff like paracetamol/aspirin type stuff. Blackcurrant Lemsip ftw!) I don't feel the need to pay for that.

I think it may cover dental, but I think if I ever need any work doing, I'll follow my friends advice and go to Thailand and get any work done plus have a holiday at the same time. He said the work was first class and the whole thing (dental work and 3 weeks in Thailand) still worked out cheaper than if he had got the work done in Canada without a holiday.

That's what he thought too.

He was in Thailand on holiday and was talking to another guy in his hotel. That guy had got some work done at the main hospital for about $300 which would have cost him about $3000 back in the US.

So my friend went and got his teeth cleaned and whitened, had a couple of caps (result of an accident he had had a few years previously) replaced and had some fillings done. All in all, it took him three appointments spread over a week and they did a perfect job. It cost him around $500 in total if I recall correctly.

Just did a google search. Apparently Bangkok and Costa Rica are the best places to go to get cheap dental treatment.

I'd love to get something from it but I'm not holding out much hope :?

The suit is rubbish and I hope it raises nothing

I'm already in trouble for bidding as I hear it only has a 27" waist, hence will never wear it
In that case use a sniper site. All you do is register your max bid and the sniper site submits this with about four seconds before the auction ends. As long as your max bid has not already been beaten, then you will usually win most auctions.

That's cheating! No really, there's no fun in it like that... where's the romance in having to wake up around 6 in the morning to check if you're still the highest bidder?!
Yeah I know, I'm old fashioned ;D

Most people are playing it close to their chests and not bidding until nearer the end.

I think the suit will go for the most, followed by the scarf.

I may raid the kids money boxes and place a bid on something cheap at the end!

The bidding will stop tonite! And I've just seen the a certain name pop up on a few items... it seems uncle sister is back among the living  :D
So if somebody's after the suit or scarf, good luck with the bidding ;D
I wanted that RAH shirt, but I'm afraid that'll end out of my reach...

...but it's a good thing if these items raise a lot of money for little Oscar!

Best of luck peepz 8)
