I Just figured out that the intro was wrong, actually its:

D (without the e string) - C - Am - D - (At the B String)E-F

Also, the Chorus it's F-A-D (and a quick riff based on F, again at the B string, later i'll try to tab it)
Thanks brokofiev. (So it's Am. Go figure.)

These bits weren't transcribed yet, so I had a go. My ears are made of cloth, though; corrections welcome.

More Detonation Boulevard:

I think the chorus goes Db-Bb, or F-C in the live version. There's a cleaner guitar strumming the chords on the record.

Code: Select all

E |-11--|-6---|
B |-11--|-6---|
G |-12--|-7---|
D |-13--|-8---|
A |-13--|-8---|
E |-11--|-6---|
Verse:
Gm, A, Bb, C#m, Bb in power chords and double stops. (That is, the chords in the verse of the record are the same that Husek wrote for the live version, except transposed two semitone down, and I think the root note is omitted on some of them for maximum grooviness/brutality.)

War On Drugs (based on London 2000; Adam would improvise different figures around the central idea)

Lead guitar before the verse (improvise around the Am chord):

Code: Select all

E |-0-------------|-0---------------|
B |-1--0-0h1-0----|-1--0-1-1h3-1----|
G |-2----------2--|-2------2--------|
D |-2-------------|-2------------2--|
A |-0-------------|-0---------------|
E |---------------|-----------------|
Lead guitar during the verse, again freely improvising:

Code: Select all

E |----------------------------------0-
B |-0h1-0h1-0h1-0h1-0h1-1h3p1-0h1-0--1-
G |----------------------------------2-
D |----------------------------------2-
A |----------------------------------0-
E |-------------------------------------
Rhythm during the verse:

Am------Am---C--Bm-- (played as power chords):

Code: Select all

E |-------|-------|-------|-------|
B |-------|-------|-------|-------|
G |-2-----|-(2)---|-2-----|-5--4--|
D |-2-----|-(2)---|-2-----|-5--4--|
A |-0-----|-(2)---|-0-----|-3--2--|
E |-------|-------|-------|-------|
(silent for the first two bars of the verse, starts with Am-C-Bm)

Chorus:

D---C--Bm-Am----- (played as power chords)

Code: Select all

E |-------|--------|-------|-------|
B |-------|--------|-------|-------|
G |-7-----|-5----4-|-2-----|-2-----|
D |-7-----|-5----4-|-2-----|-2-----|
A |-5-----|-3----2-|-0-----|-2-----|
E |-------|--------|-------|-------|

To add to the above, the chorus of War On Drugs has the lead guitar play the full chords D, C, Bm and Am, ending on a barre Am chord:

Code: Select all

E |-2--0--2--5---
B |-3--1--3--5---
G |-2--0--4--5---
D |-0--2--4--7---
A |----3--2--7---
E |----------5---
Sometimes Adam would also play arpeggios around the chords or get funky on the whammy bar.

Cool, centurionofprix ... I've added this and the above to the SistersWiki's Tablature collection ... :notworthy: ...

 In that case I'd love it if someone with an ear (Husek?) could check/revise them; as said, I'm not very confident in these transcriptions.

War on Drugs sounds good for me.
I'll take a further look on it later this week, just to be sure.

Now Detonation Boulevard, well, i'll be Frank with you, i don't have much interest on Studio Versions, so, pretty much everything a play/tab it's a nowadays Live Version.

Far i can remember, you are doing it right.

Studio Version:

Main Riff:
G - A - A# - C - A#

Chorus
D# - A#

Live Version:

Main Riff:
A - B# - C - D

Riff:
F - C

Actually i've tabbed it before

Cheers!
(btw, i'm always glad to be summoned )

Thanks for the help! Looking at it now, I made some mistakes writing the chords for Detonation Boulevard; it's supposed to be Eb rather than Db in the chorus (11th fret; it's correct on the tab) and Cm rather than C#m in the verse as you say, so the whole verse goes Gm Am Bb C Bb. Too late to edit it though.

I think I can play Kiss, but wouldn't mind seeing how you have transcribed it if it's not a bother to write. I'd love a tab for Pipeline.

I reckon this is as close as you'll get to the Sisters version...

It would be intersting to know if they had this version in mind.
Or Stevie Ray Vaughan OR Dick Dale.

You can't do Pipeline unless you do it like this.

I've arrived at a little change to "Gift That Shines" - I think the chord underneath the E-F-E-F resolution thingie, at the end of the riff, is Am again.
So the verse goes D(m), C-Am, D(m), Am.

The chorus ends Bb, G.

The bassline of the chorus is F, A, repeat, Bb, G.

The bassline of the "kiss the book" bit goes Bb-G, D, repeat, ending on C.

The bassline of the verse goes D, E-C, D, A, inverting the C and the first Am.

As a Sisters tribute act person, apart from the odd twiddly bit I did, I power chorded through everything and no-one watching seemed to notice! (or care...)

All learned by ear too.

not everyone has that rockstar charisma to distract tho.

Expanding on what Bartek wrote before, here is a tab for Gift That Shines, sans the solo. I may try it later. I am confident in this, although Ben plays his parts differently sometimes; this is written around recordings of the 2014 gigs.

intro/solo

Code: Select all

Chords and bassline:

verse

Chords and bassline:

Ben's riff during the verse:

E |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|--------------------|

D |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|--------------------|
A |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|--------------------|
E |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|--------------------|
Chorus

Code: Select all

Chords and bassline (the first two measures are played thrice):

   (F) (Am) (Bb) (G)

E |-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-|-5-5-5-5-5-5-3-5-|-6--------6-6---|-3------3-3---|

Code: Select all

Ben plays variations around this idea (the first two measures are again repeated):

   (F) (Am) (Bb) (G)

A |-8-----------8--------|-7---------------------|---------------------|------------------|
E |----------------------|-----------------------|---------------------|------------------|
"kiss the book"

Code: Select all

Chords and bassline (the first two measures are played thrice):

  (Bb) (G) (Dm) (Bb) (G) (C)
G |-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|-----------------|

E |---------3-3-3-3-|-----------------|---------3-3-3-3-|-----------------|

Code: Select all

Ben fiddles around on a D power chord over the above:

  (Bb) (G) (Dm)
E-|-----------------|-------------------|
B-|-----3-------3---|----3----6s8-6-5---|
G-|---2---2---2---2-|--2---2----------5-|

I'm not too sure about some of those old tabs anymore, I should probably revise them, but here's a little correction to Slept: it's E major in the verse, not E minor! The G# esp. easy to hear here.

I think Chris played it something like

Getting to that 4 on the High E is proving somewhat difficult.
Also, am I being silly or is that clearly not a C...

You don't need the high G#, especially since G# is already present in the harmony played an octave lower on the G string. The note in question just happens to be clearly audible on that Cologne recording, which is why I noticed the chord is E major rather than minor. If you do wanna play the G# on the E string, you can leave the G string unfretted, fret the A string with your index finger, the D string with your middle finger and kind of lean your middle finger over the G string, muting it. That way, you'll be able to reach the high E string more easily than if you were fretting the G.

Maybe Chris played it on a 12-string, which would double the octave in a normal E major chord, and the high G# just really cut through the mix that night for some reason.

The chord before the E does sound like a C to me but my ears are kind of broken. Being645, opinion?

Opinion? Me ...  ... I guess the specialists on this issue are rather Husek and some other people on here ... 8) ...

Anyway, I think it's basically true what you say about a possible use of a 12-string, but I've never noticed Chris or Ben using one.

Also reaching the E string on 4, hell, isn't that standard for a guitarist? As to this special chord:
index on G string, middle finger fretting A and D string and little finger on high E string - easy, especially on an electric guitar ...
otherwise, one can always (as you mention) look for a different finger setting ... ...

C? E? Don't ask me! ... I've been to too many gigs that were Lounder Than Everything Else ... ...

Specialist? oh please  .

Well, about the 12-strings thing... I can be wrong, but in São Paulo 2006, i think i saw a 12-string acoustic guitar been cleaned by the roadies on the left side of stage just before the gig.

Also, both São Paulo 2006 and Cologne 2006 are from Bite the Silver bullet tour innit?

About the Chord... Yes it's a E Major, and this G# it's clearly been played on cologne.

Btw, the old tabs isn't wrong, it's just outdated, Chris made a lot of changes in the Sisters songs.
Two years ago, i've asked him about Flood II, if the right way it's E -> G -> A or E-> G-> D, he said something like 'Both... It was E-G-D in 2001-2005, in nowadays it's E-G-A just like in the Flood era.'(Not the exactly words.)

Chris definitely uses a 12-string sometimes.

I meant my old tabs! There's lot of errors in the ones I've posted before, simply because I got it wrong.

Anyway, lately I've been hearing Ribbons as G#m and D# rather than G. :von: That's part of why it sounds so weirdly romantic; it has that classical harmonic minor thing. Or at least I really like playing it that way.

You are absolutely right , two years a go in that conversation i had with Chris, i've asked him about few songs (Train, Dr Jeep, Flood 2 and Ribbons), and if i remember well, he told me that the current version it's indeed in G, and the Album version it was in G#.
