Apologies for the thread necro but was wondering how everyone got on with their Resolutions of this time last year.
Back then, I appear to have posted :
Nikolas Vitus Lagartija wrote:Some great ideas here. Good luck to all those with life-changing plans. My own resolutions are more prosaic :

1) drink less - dryathlon should help me get off to a good start !
2) exercise more (and not give up after two weeks like I normally do)
3) post more regularly on my TSOM blog (no entries since last July  )
4) obsess less about trivial matters such as football (ongoing resolution since about 1978)
5) stop referring to TSOM as "the Girls/Gurlz" etc as it really annoys a lot of people here (thanks for the PMs !)
6) erm, that's it, although I like the sound of that "be more patient with my wife and kids" one. Perhaps 2013 will be the year when they finally recognise the true genius of :von: !
I did ok on 1) (starting dryathlon again tomorrow) and more surprisingly 2), but good intentions petered out on 3) and as for the rest ...

How did everyone else fair with the bigger, more life-changing stuff ?

I managed to tease the cat more.

This coming year I want to learn sign language.
Just not sure which to go for. English or American.

It will be one of two: to only drink friend's homemade cider or NEVER drink his homemade cider again.

Wish me luck and Merry New Year to all - 2014 can't possibly be worse than 2013

More self-reflection and risk taking...get fit (again - urff)...continue working on life plan, including goals, purpose, ad nauseam...oh, and get married. ;D ;D ;D

2012 was surely the worst year in a long time for me and 2013 wasn't the burner, either, exect in terms of burning further down ...

some small progress here or there, nonetheless ... I wonder how I managed. Definitely not by resolutions ... ...

Congratulations! :)

  • Make more artwork (twice as much as this year is my aim)
  • Stop getting stressed out by the day job
  • Might even give some thought to giving up smoking in February
1 - Debatable, but that's close enough - I did a lot, and I'm counting that as a success.
2 - Failed miserably - still stressed by the day job.
3 - Yeah, that never happened..

Oh.
I might buy a cheap kitchen.

As long as it comes with appliances.

as i see i did most of my last year resolution.
this is (still): legal inglese, excersise even more than i used to did in last jahre, read lot more (even that in 2013 i've read more than in 2012), sing up for Tai Chi (Taijiquan) instead of yoga. safe money and buy accustic guitar and relearn how to play to start write down what's playing in my head.

I only had one New Year resolution last year...that was to Not Make Any New Year Resolutions...

This year, while I was still quite sober, and looking towards my 50th birthday later in the year...I kinda muttered something about loosing a little weight and getting a healthier lifestyle

 WTF was I thinking?? :urff:

well a couple of things:

work less, travel less-this is going to be a challenge as I have a new position starting Jan 1st but it's absolutely essential (already cancelling one trip end of January)

move more (fat ass situation and generally feeling blah)

try to be more organized with my study so I can concentrate ( I need serious progress passing 2 new assignment and securing a supervisor)

stop procrastinating (what I am doing now)

go to more gigs (I only managed Pale Horse in New York and Moonspell in Hungary in 2013)

and I really really need to stop worrying about everything and everyone...otherwise I go nuts
