Not for the flying Dutchman! :P

Mind you, when I was in Belgian and Dutch service stations, I noticed magazines displayed at my eye level (in fact, at a bloody 8-year-old's eye level  :urff: ) which would be top-shelf if not illegal in this country...

(I don't mean the NME, by the way... :innocent: :von: )

if i knew about such things (and obviously i don't 'cause then the baby jesus wouldn't love me) i'ld wonder why the erm, insertions and spilt medicine of european porn isn't allowed in british top-shelf mags, yet dodgy service stations at truckstops in this country are allowed to sell said euro-porn four mags for a fiver? :innocent:

God, I still have nightmares from when I lived in Amsterdam for a year. Every day I had to (yes, HAD to) walk through the red light district several times and oh, the horror! The things you'd see in windows ranged from the utterly comic (whoever thinks of titles for those videos deserves some kind of award) to the perplexing (I particularly remember a pair of studded leather pants with FOUR 'attachments'???) to the frankly completely upsetting. I won't say anything about the latter, but even though I'm an extremely tolerant person there's some things I'm glad you can't legally buy in this country. And I know for a fact that many Dutch people really hate those shops, and the people they attract.

I mean, FOUR!!! What for??? :D  :urff:

In Antwerp we've got a red light district as well... Can you believe that street looks better than Antwerp's main shopping street?

Anyway, personally I have no problem with such things at all, as long as they don't push it...

Remind me to visit Amsterdam some time.

I have a Dutch friend, she's just moved south to Amsterdam. I'll ask her to put me up for a night.
Or four.

Having recently watched a documentary about the way Eastern European women get sold into sexual slavery to work as prostitutes in the West, I wonder quite how many of the "window girls" in the 'Dam are there voluntarily. :urff:

It's the weed I go there for.

I guess we all draw our lines in different places, though I'm not sure many people would genuinely refuse to draw one at all. For some people it's when you mix sex and animals, or sex and kids, or sex and Dale Winton. For some people it's a problem if making the 'product' involves exploitation, for others it's not. The kind of stuff that particularly troubled me is when you mix sex and violence. But drawing the line in any one specific spot is difficult to justify, yes.

Yeah. Not a good idea IMO. Some of the American porn coming out these days that's simulated rape I really find disturbing.

Plus of course the links between extreme porn, the sex trade and the trafficking of women can be made. Police have just today rescued 19 women from captivity in a 'massage parlour' in Birmingham. Some of between 1 and 2,000 women in Britain.

hmm...some of the "window girls" are there because of choice - i.e. money and some girls just like doing sexual favours....
the others however are there because of horror stories where passports have been stolen (for example) and they are stuck in this country.

The red light district is mainly for the tourists and indeed the *locals* do not roam those streets except having to get from point a to b. The sex-shops have many different things and if it is your cup of tea (no pun intended), then you could call it an educational tour.

The weed is good in A'dam and all the other little smart shops too :innocent:

Anyway @ Dark..like on another thread....I could put you up for four nights....I am only 30 mins. outside A'dam to the north looking on a map.

But nymphomania does lurk in the streets of A'dam....

I loved Amsterdam when I was there, but I managed to avoid the Red Light district (though I was close enough to it in my hotel to be able to confirm every stereotype I'd ever had about it all   )...

I avoided it like the plague, TBH, because I do find most of the more "extreme" stuff deeply disturbing, and the "normal" stuff just makes me sick and despair of human nature really :| :urff: .

Not a way to spend your holiday.

Rampant nymphomania in Amsterdam, heh? It was on an extended vacation when I lived there! Could it be my aftershave?

You smell fine MrChris, which year were you living in A'dam?

Some of the streets are horror stories but you have to know where to go and yeah after a decade living here know most of A'dam and not all is sin-city although we are open-minded here if you watch out for cyclists...

94-95. I was there when Ajax won the European Cup and the fans decided to celebrate by destroying the town.

I'm glad I smell fine. I have a very poor sense of smell myself and probably wash less often than I should. TMI?

Very interesting, 94 was the year that brought me to this country so can not forget that year. Maybe we walked past each other in A'dam without even knowing it!

But A'dam is still the same....and I am used to people who wash whenever it suits them although that after-shave does have a familiar scent to it.

Hey maybe boudicca is smelling the air?
Babes when you come to A'dam again I will be happy to show you interesting things.....(not the dirty thoughts on minds at the moment)

And surely the nymphomaniacs just love to practice their hobby on fat, ugly american tourists.

Most of them even travel far from East-Europe, just because there're not enough male prey in their homecountry.

Aha. I see that we have some cross-purposes here, and that ms MB appears to have irked ms CD. For what it's worth, the crucial part of her message was surely this:

MrChris....there is a book on the subject on how many young ladies do come to this country in the hope of either finding love or a better life..(the grass seems greener on the other side) no pun intended with regards to grass or green BUT there are a few of those ladies who are here because their passports were stolen or the "love of their lives" decided not to go there, leaving them with no money, hardly speaking the language. Some of those ladies stand in front of the windows trying to earn the money to eventually getting home one day.

The fact that canon docre knows what types come to A'dam (and has hit the nail on the head)....of course the american tourists and most of them are fat and ugly. I think the nymphomaniacs in the industry do not really care what they look like....just doing the deed and getting paid for it gets them off, I would think.
