Lee, you know I love you  , but I gotta say - I don't think Mr. Kane is really from the same mould as that lady.

Granted, he has started one of those topics which could have the potential to turn dodgy ... but I don't think he has done so with the intention of getting as many people's backs up as he apparently has. And I could understand if he gets a bit p!ssed off and tries to fight his corner when quite a few people seem to have jumped on him.

It would be very sad to see the words of people who are not simply slinging personal insults, merely stating an opinion (whether others think its relevant or idiotic or whatever) policed on this forum. Personal digs have been thrown at times on HL, by regular posters (I include myself in this number)... a.r.kane is doing none of that.
So I fail to see why this should be brought to a personal level :| .
i have no intention of journeying further into personal insults- hence the removed expletive that preceeded the Rosalie comment. :innocent:

it does annoy me though when people asume i am either homophobic or small-minded simply because i really don't have any interest in or feel any sympathy for the shag-related hang-ups of total strangers. unless they want to film it and let me have a look at their personal predelications /debauchery....
and in the same way as i used to get the anti-nazi lot giving me evils 'cause i've got a skinhead even when my girlfriend of three years was black! i won't be judged as ignorant because i take the p*ss out of men sucking other blokes dicks- it's a highly amusing valid target for p*ss-taking and i should know 'cause i've done it.

Of the many possible reasons for the name "Marian" appearing in a few Sisters' songs, you might like to note that "Marian" could also be a boys' name, along with some of its derivatives.

Which proves beyond reasonable doubt that Eldritch is gay, surely.

Oh, Marian
I can hear those voices singing
Bury me
Deep
Inside
Lie beside and
Bury Me
Deep

bi the way you could have called my dad a puff and got your head kicked in...but then i've had sex with men as well as women and the last fight i had with my dad half-crippled him.
I posed a question, I did not present a loaded assumption as I have yet to voice my opinion. Your abilty for reasoned discussion must be the 'him' you refer to in 'half-crippled'. What if I had said 'your pint's a puff'? Would you glass me??

And you can't get around the difficulty of defining 'gay' by chucking 'homosexual' back at me, either (point 3). That's just circular. It's like saying the definition of 'talking' is 'speaking'.

Talking: the uttering of recognisable words with no need for linguistic structure.
Speaking : Talking with the use of gramatical and rhythmic structure to express (subjective) reasoning and logic.

Mr.Chris I hear you talking.

As I will be unable to continue my forray into this frivolousness past the turn of the new year - I shall be in kashmir for the forseeable future - I will not continue with this 'debate' as I will be dealing with enough arrogant reactionists.

Eldritch thinks his fans are stupid! What on earth is he thinking??

either you are very stupid or so far up your own arse that the light is too poor to read by.
i wouldn't have kicked your head in- it was my dad who was a rampant homophobe. hence the fact (among many)that during our last fight i felt no guilt at half-crippling him.
i really don't see how i can be an ignorant homophobe whilst openly stating in a public forum that i've had sex with men as well as with women...and without getting hung-up about it to the extent that i have to drag anyone else's sexuality through the gutter to make myself feel better.

Don't recall calling you an ignorant homophobe. Reactionary, yes, but that dosen't need to be pointed out. You perhaps could just calm down and stop insulting me just because you took offence to a perfectly reasonable question. If you don't see it as being reasonable then do what is done in civilized society and don't respond, rather than becoming aggressive and unreasonable.
I hope you have a very merry christmas and I wish you well in the sister's quiz.

<mod hat> I fixed your quote tags a.r.kane. </mod hat>

What we've learned on this thread:
  • Eldritch is (almost certainly) not gay.
  • Asking questions about people's sexuality can cause knee-jerk reactions. And possibly over-reactions.
  • IMO there is a valid reason for asking the question in that someone's sexuality would tend to inform their art.
  • Asking the question purely for prurience's sake is a different matter; but I think a.r.kane has made it clear that that's not his reason for asking.
  • We appear to have discovered a corollary to Godwin's Law: As an online discussion on sexuality grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving the word homophobia approaches 1.
Is there any reason to leave this thread open? :urff:

Nope.

But is there any reason to close it? Can't we just give it a seasonal glass of mulled wine and let it die a natural death?

for the record, mr kane is most definitely not our dear-departed rosalie.

from what i have ascertained, mr kane is a intelligent, articulate, politically and morally aware individual. readings his past-posts lead me to believe that he is also a fan of and sometime-associate of herr eldritch. or he was, anyway. he also has a wickedly provocative sense of humour. bless him.

and with that, yes. i think everything that needs to be said on this thread has been said.

and so lets "leave it in the room" shall we? 8) ;)
