So what do you all think of Benjy's guitar sound ?

His songs are s**t metal but the actual guitar sound is very very sistersish ... or to be precise , Sisters lead guitarish ..... or to be even more precise, a little bit Marxish.

I was never impressed with Adam's guitar playing. I never heard more than thrashing and howling guitar sounds. The few subtile guitar riffs were always very simple.

I hope the new guitar boy is technically much more capable in playing some of the very specific riffs that made some of the Sisters songs so famous.

my friends, obviously adam did play some parts the way some of us never preferred them - but this never was due to technical reasons! adam is a great guitar player - the main question might be, who was responsible for what. i am shure stuff like the speed kills version of logic or other reduced renditions were not only incorporated by the legend. i also was disappointed that every comfortably numb solo was exactly the same, but thats not everything.

my guess is more that andrew himself decided to have it that way - a way to play tribute to bands like motorhead or the ramones - without even perfroming their tunes! it's a kind of angryness inside. many of us in here like it that way (not me of course)

in fact i am very sorry that adam never made it onto a sisters record these days. this would have been the chance to add something to the puristic live-versions. we'll see.........

You never saw them with Tim? He came up with some great howling & thrashing 8)
Adam's stuff is pretty clean by comparison. Didn't mind it at first but it's just too basic - makes me think of karaoke rock'n'roll, especially with the midi bass. :|

Yes, a real bassist would be prefered, but just two guitarists again. Adam could fill in the bass duties, as he showed on a few tracks. Adam may not have been my favorite guitarist in the various line-ups, but he will be missed.

Are you available to fill in at bass, not that I have any say in the matter?

euphoria wrote:Von is simply biting the bullet in every thinkable respect - touring the US (probably cheaper than before), hiring a new guitarist who can attract the HIM-crowds, and possibly even going to release a new record. After tonight, that last thing wouldn't surprise me the least.

But I miss Adam very much. He was a clever guy who balanced Eldritch even in writing on the home page, he was political, a polyglot - and couldn't be Andrews son by a wide margin like the two guys we have now.

Anyway here's to kick-ass gigs (especially in Philly!) :D

And don't get me wrong, I think Chris is very groovy!
why would the new guitarist attract HIM fans?

I suppose the idea is that Von's having a pair of younger, more "metal" guitarists onboard will attract a younger audience?

I suspect, though, that any young goth-metalhead types who are aware of The Sisters and were fans (and could attend the shows) would go regardless of the guitarists' ages, simply 'cause The Sisters are a big deal old "goth" band and influenced a whole horde of Euro-metal stuff. (HIM, among others.)

I was in high school the last time The Sisters toured the US. I was into industrial and the European metal scene. I missed the gig. I would have loved to go; I couldn't care less how old Von/Adam/Chris/Mike were. They were an important band to me, not just because I loved their music, but because they were important to other music I loved as well.

I'm very happy to be wrong and Pearson was too workmanlike.
