Conspiracy Theory, anyone?

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Too true. Even if the "popstar" is very aimable on the board, fraternization with fans is always a bad idea. They just like their stars to stand on a pedestal.

One of these days, myheartland will appear on the Sisters Links page, and we'll be in a new Golden Age.

If you read Dante's Inferno, the part of Hell where Satan resides is frozen from the icy winds caused by Lucifer's wings, as he tries to escape from being half-entombed in ice.

So if Dante is to be believed, it may happen. ;)

Have you actually read that?

I've got it here, but it was terribly hard, after one page I stopped. But then it was a translation very close to the original rhymes and verses :(

EDIT: Sorry, that was the divine comedy, but still :urff:

Inferno is but the first part of The divine comedy (Inferno, Purgatory, Heaven).

I myself gave it a shot years ago. A quote here and there is okay and makes you look good.

Ulysses ?! Double ouch !

I pride myself in having read "Portrait of the artist as a young man". I must confess I didn't understand much of it though. :(

Sometimes the author would simply lose me for a couple pages. I simply couldn't grasp a darn thing !

Most amusing thing about Ulysses is that Joyce put a couple of intended grammatical mistakes in it, but never said where. Some editors tried to correct them, but of course never could distinguish mere mistakes from the author's intended ones.

That would be Roger Waters, then - perhaps the icicle will be delivered by the former Pink Floyd frontman munching a bacon sarnie, talking about something uplifting. Now THAT would be a first...

Obviously I plan to read a Dutch translation of it, I'm quite sure I'd hardly understand a word if I'd read it in English. And I'm not even claiming to fully understand it Dutch either, as it just goes on and on I often catch myself reading very passively.

I once was halfway through it and was doing a good job, but then I had to stop as there were too much other things I had to do. So I'll have to start from zero again :(

Interesting thing about Ulysses you tell though!

Anyway, as I was walking the dog I thought of your 'Dante quotes' and realised I once met a man in Italy who knew the whole of La Divina Comedia by heart  Now that's an amazing thing!

The guy owned a restaurant near Florence, and whenever he felt like he started citing full pages of Dante :notworthy:

Now I remember where I got my copy of Ulysses from : a book sale on the campus of University of Leeds in late 97 ! Those were good times, the year I spent there. :D
