sorry to hear that, I was looking forward to it.
I hope everything will work out for you, and I'm sure we will be seeing you on stage again sooner or later!

You will, Rafbär. You lot have to, and you know it.

Thanks for all the support, people. It means a lot.

Let me set a few things straight : this is NOT the end of Ahráyeph as a musical entity. It's merely the end of Ahráyeph as a live band. I can no longer charge myself enough to keep a band format going, because I've experienced nothing but adversity and grief in trying and getting little or nothing in return. There is a reason why Ahráyeph started out as a one man project and this was it. I reluctantly allowed this project to become a band because I had been through that kind of crap at least three times before with Crucifire and other musical projects of mine.

The events that led to me having to look for outside help to try and play the Gothic Festival had been going on for quite a long time. In the end, it proved too hard a task to make it work, when one of these outside musicians backed out and left me with the painful task of cancelling a gig that we - that is Sam, Dirk in the artwork department and myself - worked our arses off to make something special of and I, personally, had really been looking forward to as it would have been a chance to expose Ahráyeph to a larger crowd. This was not to be and it caused me to reevaluate the live future of Ahráyeph. There is none.

I will keep working on songs and I will keep putting them out for as long as I can, because I have no other option. I was born to do this and it's not like I can flick a switch and stop being an artist. I will remain one ti!ll the day I die...

Glad to hear you'll continue creating. Always look forward to your new offerings.

Shame about the live aspect though. Would have loved a chance to see you "in action".

Maybe you are just not MEANT to be a live band, or, for that matter, a more-than-one-man band.

FGG started out as my own solo project, but it evolved intu a multi-personnel project soon after hitting the first stage with Samwise the Great. Only because I allowed it to.

Consider this not as bad criticism, but as a musician you have to step back sometimes, breathe deeply and then ask yourself 'is it because all the rest are just a bunch of lazy bastards, or is it because I can't step back from the project and let other people have their input'? Always be fair to yourself in music.

Sometimes projects are born to stay the Geisteskind of just one person Raf. Maybe that's just what ARF is all about.

I cannot imagine people like Sam, Eric and that bloody lovely red-shiny-suited Agnus-guitarist to have lack of dedication...

Thus far the public announcement. The private talk will be in private if you feel up to it.

For the record, Iz : I was not talking about Sam, Erik or Vassie. They had nothing to do with my decision to cancel the 'band' format.

Raf: we all know Ahráyeph is your baby.
Even though we all expect a band onstage if we see you live perform, but I for one wouldn't give a damn if it ware just you on stage with nothing but a mic, a ipod and a empty stage. it is about the tunes Raf and it is clear they stand as a rock.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Christophe. But I'm sure you can understand that I wouldn't want to become a karaoke act, even though I recorded all the instruments myself. I would feel like a cheat if it were just me and backings from a computer on stage. I'm not Sam Gooris (or Madonna, for that matter) and I never hope to be.

Seconded. The reason FGG shifted from a one-man-band towards a multi-musician's collective in the first place is just because I would feel like a cheat standing there alone playing a 32 track full orchestral song. Now we're three on stage and that full-orchestra seems just a bit more plausible...

I just wanted to point out your music stands for itsself, not that you should go do the gig on your own
besides I think both musicians (shudder :urff: ) you mentioned above have a bigger live act going on anyway. clicky

Though it saddens me to hear I won't hear you live again, making the right decision for you, musically, is what matters. You are the artist, you decide what should happen to your work, that's how it goes.

I'm still looking forward to listening to both your future as your past produce often :notworthy:

It's perfectly do-able to perform live on stage singing over a backing track. So long as you put enough into it so that the audience are gripped, it doesn't matter. Always worked for this artwank s**t artist. :|

Seeing as the Shadowplay Festival - which replaces the Waregem Gothic Festival in Belgium this year - has seen fit to book Fields of the Nephilim, we of Ahráyeph think it would be a damn shame if the Nephilim fans among you Sisterati supporting us as well wouldn't get to see their favourite Belgian band (and yes, I am now blatantly ignoring that For Greater Good is better known and probably loved more than we are, but I don't care). So once again, we're calling all stations to do something for us, seeing as the last time I saw and spoke to several of you (the FOTN Xmas Ball gig at Cologne) I got several requests to perform. If we can't come to your country, but you're coming to ours to see Carl 'n the Boyz or any other band on the bill for that matter, why not help to make sure Ahráyeph plays at Shadowplay as well? At the very least you'll have one more good reason to attend the festival.

So what do we want you to do? If you have a Facebook account, go to the Shadowplay Festival FB page, become a member and post demand to see Ahráyeph play. Demand it several times, lest they become annoyed and book us if only to end the incessant badgering. The best way to let the organisers know what and who you want to see is to bombard them with requests to book a band. Otherwise they aren't going to bother. Why book a band that doesn't pull any punters? And unlike with 2008's Waregem debacle, if they book us, we will come, even if any or all of us are half dead. Or 90% dead. Whatever. We will make sure to be there and play as if our lives depend on it (which in some cases, they do). It could be your only chance this year to see us in the environment we thrive in : on stage.

We thank you for your support.

Well, that is good news Raf and it did make me happy... but I'm not sure all roads lead to Leipzig, I do tend to get lost in Krautland :innocent:

Basically, just follow the E40 road signs and take the right exit. ;D

But don't worry, mon. There will be other announcements, closer to home. I just can't make them public just now. But more gigs will be definitely confirmed, rest assured!

White Square download. 2011 'single' version, to be had for 1 measly Euro in whatever format you wish : WAV, FLAC, MP3, etc. Mixed in order to play LOUD. On repeat. Till your ears bleed.

Enjoy...
